On April 17th 1974 in Denver Co , at University Hospital "William M. Ward" was born, it was night around 9:30pm and he was hollering before he got out and made sure that whomever he spoke to up to August 9th, 2014 heard him clearly. William was a happy mischievous child and as he grew he smiled all the time, and always had something of substance to say especially to those down hearted . He was a smart child that didn't just remember things that the rest of us couldn't, for instances at 3yrs old he said Mommy about fifty times until he had her full attention and started off the conversation with, Mommy when I was in your stomach I used to play with my fingers and suck my thumbs, but I didn't know what they were then, and I also knew my Brother and Sister because I could hear you calling 'Yvonne , Michael' you better get in here, and every time you would get up there was a lot of water and I'd go up and down, up and down. So after taking him in for his Dr. visit the Doctor was asked if it was possible that a child could experience these things from the womb and remember, the Doctor replied, either he was their or he's read a very heavy book, so from that point on Mother trusted in most of what he said. He was a product of Denver public Schools and married the 1st time at a very young age. He was still in his teens when he met and married Debra Palmer, and to this union two children were born. His 1st son Daryle Elijah Ward-Nash and his one and only daughter, Brandi Monique Ward-Heathcoat. They divorced several years later and Debra preceded him in death. William had a yearning to know the other side of his family better, so about nine months before his death he moved to Portland , Or with his current mate and their Son whom he affectionately called JR (William Milton Ward Jr) BY now William settled down, went to School, educated himself with the art of Welding, he joined the Iron works union, with the Tradesmen International and he loved his job, he had to work hard to get it , and had to know what he was doing to keep it. During his short lifetime he also studied the Bible, and loved the scripture in Revelation at 21: verse 4 because it speaks about Hope, and gives insight about a system that dreams really will come true in. He was a complex man with many sides to him with a heart as big as the Moon, on a full night! He will be deeply missed by his Parents Mother 'Jacqueline L Ward and Father 'William M Bentley. He also leaves to mourn him his Grandmother Clara Bell Bentley of Portland Or, He was preceded in death by his Grandfather William M Bentley Sr, and his Grandmother Vivian M Lewis. He had three children Daryle of Denver, Brandi of Canada, and JR of Portland. His loving Brothers and Sisters, Yvette Johnson of Denver, Yvonne Ward of Denver, Tamara Bentley of Denver. Michael Owens of California, Anthony Ward of Denver. His Aunts and Uncles Wayne Bentley & Lois Williams of Nevada Erma Johnson of Portland, Barbara Bentley, Valerie Bentley, Deloris Bentley, Pat Beasley all of Portland, Charles Lewis of Denver. Nieces and Nephews include Angela, Jackie, Kade, Asia, Temptess, Sasha, Tierra all of Denver Many other friends relatives including a Host of Cousins. We love and will forever miss our gentle giant! This Poem was inspired by my Son the gentle Giant 'William Ward" Life is hard but somebody's got to live it. Our surroundings may not be popular with us all the time , however someone somewhere would love to be under the same circumstances you claim you cannot bare! Adaptability inside this facility we call life. We must learn to change inside the change that's already changing. Sometimes we have to trade places, even change paces, we have to quicken our step, strain for pep, rethink, reroute, slow our roll, that's the way it goes. As we live and learn we discover that the only thing we really have under control, is knowing that we really don't have any! Life is hard, life is rough and tough but we all have to live it!!
