Rosetta Cobb

The life of Rosetta Cobb began when she blessed her parents, John Willie Mayfield and Corean Gulley Mayfield with her birth on February 12, 1935, in Vienna, Louisiana. She was the fourth child born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brothers, Willie, A.L., H.P. and her sisters, Juanita, Johnetta, Lou Helen and Nettie Bee. As a child, she loved going to church, school and to cook. She and her sisters loved dressing up and loved to dance. Rosetta received her formal education in Ruston, where she graduated from Lincoln High School. On May 20, 1958, she united in holy matrimony to Willie Cobb. The couple first met in Monroe, Louisiana. To this union, Michael, Donald, John, Brenda and Vaughn were born. She was also the proud mother of a son, she named Willie Earl. They all remember her as a loving and kind mother, whose pride and joy was the care and nurture of her family. She was later blessed with sixteen grandchildren and thirty two great grandchildren who were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. They lovingly called her "Big Mama" and have many happy and memorable moments of time they all shared together. Willie preceded her in death. By profession, Rosetta was a Business Entrepreneur and a Private Duty Nurse. She was the owner of R&B Janitorial Service for a number of years. She loved being her own boss and took pride in her duties and responsibilities. She was the type of boss who would never ask someone to perform a task that she herself wouldn't first do. She carried that same mind set when working as a Private Duty Nurse. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Rosetta accepted the Lord as her personal savior at a very early age. She was baptized at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church in Louisiana. Upon relocating to Denver, Colorado, she joined Agape Christian Church under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Robert Woolfolk. She truly enjoyed the wisdom and knowledge she was gaining as she served the Lord in spirit and in truth. She has been a member for over forty years. Rosetta was a fun loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed collecting knick knacks, dancing, listening to music, and traveling. Her closest friend, Geneva Mills will miss the camaraderie they shared together and the fact that she was a true and trustworthy friend. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful lady, whose traits were of love and her heart was as big as the universe. To know Rosetta was to love her. Rosetta Cobb departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on January 26, 2014, in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include 5 sons, Willie E. (Brenda) Mayfield, Michael C. Cobb, Donald K. Cobb all of Denver, John W. Cobb of Aurora and Vaughn A. Cobb of Denver; 1 daughter, Brenda D. (Michael) Mosley Denver; 1 sister, Nettie B. Thompson of Ruston, LA; 16 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and many friends.
