Roscoe Maynard Brown was born on May 30, 1925 to Anthony Brown and Lydia Bryant-Brown in Coffeeville, AL. He gave his life to Christ at the Ebenezer Baptist Church. To their union, 11 children were born. Lewis "L.T." Thomas, Tossie, Earlie, L.J., Thomas, Raymond, John "John W." Wesley, Earbie, Lou Ella, and Mamie. In his early years, Roscoe proudly drove the school bus for Coffeeville Training School. His brother John Wesley fondly remembers being taught to drive the school bus by his big brother. Roscoe played varsity football for Alabama A & M. He served in the U. S. Army and fought at Normandy along with his cousin the late Rev. Jessie L. Coates Sr. Upon his discharge, he relocated to Denver, Colorado. On November 5, 1955, Roscoe married Arstralia Harris-Henderson. To this union, four children were born: Linda P., Anthony, Irvin, and Victor. Roscoe loved his wife, and his family. He was very animated telling funny stories and always kind. Roscoe was a member of Central Baptist Church and later became an active member at Cleaves Memorial C.M.E. He was employed by Swift Co. a number of years. He briefly moved to Chicago to work & later returned to Denver and was employed by Keebler until his retirement. To say Roscoe was an avid Bronco fan would be an understatement. He loved to drive and frequently made the 1, 400-mile trip back home to Coffeeville & Tuskegee. Most will remember the time we thought he was missing, only to find out that he driven to Alabama without notice. In later years, it was probably the hardest thing he had to discontinue. His family will fondly remember him as "the Cadillac man". One that stands out was the big blue one with the fins. Roscoe was always proud that he was able to raise his family in Denver. After the untimely death of his brother L.T., Roscoe brought his niece & nephews to Denver and helped to raise them as his own. Preceding him in death were his parents, nine siblings, his son Victor and his wife Arstrailia. He leaves to cherish his memory, his sons Anthony Brown of Northglenn, CO; Irvin Brown (Marilyn) of Thornton, CO; daughter Linda Henderson of Northglenn, CO; brother John Wesley "John W." of Grove Hill, AL and a vast number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
