Mary Louise Stevenson Richardson was born on February 25, 1929, in Marion, Indiana to her parents, Douglas Stevenson and Rosalie Davis Stevenson. She was the first born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brother, Fred and her sisters, Pat, Dorothy and Ruby. As a child, she enjoyed playing in the cotton fields with her brother, she loved going to the movies and just sitting and watch her mother crochet. She received her early education by graduating from Marion High School in her hometown. She furthered her education by attending Bluefield State University in Bluefield, West Virginia. On July 11, 1954, Mary united in holy matrimony to Milton Richardson in Marion, Indiana. They first met at the movie theater. They exchanged vows it the Calvary Baptist Church located in Marion. The marriage was filled with love and happiness. To this union, a son, Michael Dewayne Richardson was born. Michael remembers his mother as loving and kind. She was the type of person who didn't mind lending a helping hand to anyone in need. She was a woman who enjoyed the simple things in life. Her love of God, family and home were her priority. Milton preceded her in death on January 20, 2013. Mary was later blessed with four grandchildren, Shannon, Myesha, Maurice and Quentin, who were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. They too shared many happy and precious moments together. By profession, Mary was employed by City Elite Laundry for many years. She was a Presser and a Seamstress. She was a person who worked well with her co-workers. She performed her duties with a spirit of excellence. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Mary was a faithful and dedicated member of Freedom Baptist Church. She served her church under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Daniel Williams. She also served as Church Secretary. She truly enjoyed her walk with the Lord and the Christian fellowship shared with her church family. At the time of her death, she had been a member for over twenty years. Mary was a fun loving woman, who in her free time, enjoyed, crocheting, doing cross word puzzles, sewing and watching her great grandchildren. They all remember her spending quality time with each of them. Her closest friends, Helen McCullum, Johnnie Mae Turnstil, Teresa Ruiz, and Mary Pinedo will miss the camaraderie they all shared together and the fact that she was a true and genuine friend. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this Queen of a Woman. To know Mary was to love her. Mary Louise Richardson departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on June 26, 2014, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include her son, Michael (Carolyn) Richardson, Denver, CO; 3 sisters, Pat Cannon, Ruby Hayes, Dorothy Bigby; a brother in law, James Evers; 4 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; her devoted Goddaughter, Marica Smith and a host of other relatives and many friends.
