Mable "Nudie" Mary Brown was born on July 19, 1933 in Saint Joseph, Missouri to Robert and Agnes McGaughy. She was the fifth child of eleven children. The entire McGaughy family was very close knit and all of her siblings have many fond memories of a great childhood raised by very loving parents, aunts and uncles. During her high school years Mable was asked to go along to a dance with her sister Rose and date. They had set up a blind date for Mable but she said she would go with anyone as long as it wasn't that "Ole Gordon Brown". Needless to say she married him on April 12, 1952! They fondly cherished the celebrations they had on their 25th, 45th and 61st wedding anniversaries. To this union they had three children - Gordon Jr., Norma and Keith. In 1957 Gordon moved Mable and the children to Denver. Mable was a stay home mom for years before she started working for the VA Hospital, Rocky Mountain Arsenal and retired in 1992 from General Motors after 19 years of service. She loved being with her sisters and their family's for family get-together's and reunions. She enjoyed playing bridge and bid whiz sometimes to the early morning hours with some of her Witness friends. Going camping in Gordon and Mable's motor home was always a great time for anyone that was able to accompany them. Mable always made sure we had the best food, hoagie sandwiches, snacks and her wonderful squash/zucchini dish. If you never tasted her macaroni and cheese, you truly missed out! She and Gordon traveled as much as possible thru out Colorado and Midwest states to places that had good water for fishing! Mable often studied with the Jehovah Witness before being baptized on April 8, 1990 into the Truth. She loved doing door to door ministry spreading the good news of God's Kingdom. When she was no longer able to go out in service, she enjoyed letter writing and telephone witnessing. She had the most loving heart and was adored by so, so many. During her final days she found comfort and peace in having anyone read her favorite scriptures of Isaiah 41:10, 13, 2Corinthians 4:16-18 and Psalms 139 from the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. After a lengthy battle with cancer those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include her husband of 61 years Gordon L. Brown, Sr, her children, Gordon Jr. (Eileen), Norma Riley, Keith Sr (Jeanine) of Denver, CO; four sisters, Rozetta Gray and Frances Thomas of St. Joseph, MO; Carolyn (Ralph) Harris, Carrie (Albert) May of Denver, CO, and two sister-in-laws, Cecelia McGaughy of St. Joseph, MO and Ceola McGaughy of Denver, CO, 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, many that fondly called her Grandma, host of nieces and nephew, many relatives and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Robert L. McGaughy Jr., Tommy McGaughy and Arthur McGaughy; her sister Norma Lee Brown, brothers-in-law Warren Brown, Lewis Gray and sister-in-law Marion McGaughy.
