Julia Frederick

November 20, 1931 — August 25, 2013

Juliamyrtle Frederick was born on November 20, 1931, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to her parents, Reese Tucker and Detty Lowe. She was the second of three children born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brother, Wayne and her sister, Diana. She received her formal education in Muskogee where she graduated from high school. She furthered her education by attending college. "Julia" as she was affectionately called, united in holy matrimony to Alvin T. Powell. To this union, two sons, Alvin Jr. and Duane were born. This marriage was later dissolved. She was also the proud mother of a daughter, she named Darlene, and her third son, Kenneth. She later wed, William J. Fredrick, whom everyone called "Freddie." She was later blessed with ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She truly enjoyed the care and nurture of her family. They all shared many happy and precious moments together. By profession, Julia was employed by Exempla St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver, Colorado working in the Material Management Department. She is remembered as being hard working, conscientious and performed her duties with a spirit of excellence. She retired after many years of faithful and dedicated service. Julia was a fun loving woman who enjoyed life and those who surrounded her. She was vibrant and always welcomed family and friends into her home. The neighborhood children loved her as she loved them. She would feed them, play and sing with them, or sometimes just sit and talk enjoying each other's company. She loved music, playing card games, and as her family would say, "For some unknown reason, she loved the Kansas City Chiefs." Shortly after retiring, Julia suffered a stroke. She would not let that slow her down nor keep her spirits down. She was feisty and continued to greet anyone who was in her presence with a smile. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful woman. To know Julia was to love her. She is preceded in death by a son, Duane L. Powell; her mother, Detty Linnie; her brother, Wayne R. Tucker; and her sister, Diana Donaldson. Juliamyrtle Frederick departed this life peacefully on August 25, 2013, in Denver, Colorado. (Rosemarie) Powell, Jr. of Centennial, CO and Reverend Kenneth (Guinette) Powell of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter, Darlene E. Powell of Denver; 10 grandchildren, Rhonda Smith, Tarah J.
