Joseph Editone, Sr.

d. July 27, 2014

Joseph Editone, Sr. was born in Carbondale, Illinois to his parents, Lonnie Editone, Sr. and Henrietta Editone. He was the fourth child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Henry, Lonnie, Sr. and his sisters, Henrietta and Theaster. He was educated in Maywood, Illinois and graduated from Proviso East High School. On January 11, 1971, Joseph enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served during the Vietnam War. He served with honor and distinction and was honorably discharged. On July 27, 1972, Joseph united in holy matrimony to Magalene Rae in Denver, Colorado. To this union four children, Bridgette, Evette, Joseph, Jr. and Dante were born. Magalene preceded him in death in 1994. Joseph met, Charlene D. Palmer in May of 2000. They enjoyed happiness, laughter, love and family harmony. They all enjoyed his cooking and willingness to lend a listening ear. Joseph and Charlene exchanged vows in December of 2013. Joseph was the proud "Papa" of Amir, Destyni, Joseph, III, Justice, Nautica, Elijah and Faith, who all were additional source of joy and pride in his life. They shared many happy and precious moments together. By profession, Joseph was employed by Laidlaw as a Supervisor. He was respected by his co-workers as being fair and understanding. He was hard-working and would never ask of any of his employees, to perform a task that he first wouldn't do. He retired after many years of service. Joseph was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed watching television, listening to music and spending time with family and friends. His closest friend Billy Ray Riley will remember the many one on one conversation's they shared and the fact that he was a true and genuine friend. Their bond was closer than that of a brother. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man who leaves a legacy of love, joy and happiness. To know Joseph was to love him.
