The pages of this book began for Joseph Klaba Dennis, Jr. when he was born on February 15, 1948, in Cape Palmas, Liberia to his parents, Joseph K. Dennis, Sr. and Wedeh Cooper Dennis. He was the fifth child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, James, John and his sisters, Mary and Martha. When Joe was just a toddler, he suffered the loss of both his parents. He was raised by his aunt in Cape Palmas, Liberia who taught him to cook which included his favorite dish, palm butter. He received his early education in Liberia, where he graduated from Cape Palmas High School. He furthered his education by attending Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri where he earned an Associate's Degree in Water and Sewage Treatment. On October 20, 1985, Joe united in holy matrimony to the former Sciata Musu Freeman. They first met when they both resided in Denver, Colorado. Sciata fondly remembers, "from the moment they met, they were inseparable". They were best friends when they exchanged vows at Macedonia Baptist Church. To this union, two children, Sackor and Kladeh were born. They remember their dad as "always being there for them regardless the situation or circumstance. He was a father who loved unconditionally and rarely raised his voice. Whenever times were down, he always had words of encouragement. Joe was the proud grandfather of George, Joseph, Angel, Oluwasemilor and several others. They lovingly called him "grandpa" and fondly remember all the happy and memorable moments they shared together. By profession, Joe was employed by RTD in Special Transit as a Supervisor. He was respected by his employers and admired by his coworkers for being hardworking, dedicated and a man who would never ask anyone to perform a task, that he would not first do himself. He was friendly, easygoing and peaceful. He was with the company for twelve of years. A man of faith and belief in the Lord, Joe was a member of Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries. He served under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Gabriel Oke. He truly enjoyed his walk with the Lord and fellowship shared with his church family. He has served as the Church Administrator and has been a member of the church for over eight years. Joe was a fun-loving man, who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed watching sports, spending quality time with family and friends and cooking. He was avid Denver Bronco fan. His closest friends, Issac Constance, Andrew Dennis, Peter Wilson, Demis Neba and Michael Sherrif will miss the camaraderie they all shared together and the fact that he was a true and genuine friend. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man. To know Joseph was to love him.
