James Gay

May 31, 1954 — January 22, 2014

James Earl Gay was born on May 31, 1954, in Gilliam, Louisiana to his parents, Andy Gay and Eloise Jackson Gay. He was the eleventh child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Johnny, Jesse, Roy, Anthony, Jimmy and his sisters, Rosie and Linda. His siblings remember while growing up, he had a fear of horses. He enjoyed fishing in the lake behind the family home. James received his formal education in Shreveport, LA and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. By profession, James was employed by Master Craft, Inc. as a Kitchen Cabinet Builder. He was faithful, dedicated and performed his duties with a spirit of excellence. He worked well with his co- workers and carried a jovial personality. A man of faith and belief in the Lord, James attended worship service at Elmoe Baptist Church in Louisiana. He enjoyed the service and attended with his father and his nephew. James was a fun-loving man, who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he loved listening to music, watching basketball and football and driving his favorite car which was a Cadillac. His closest friends, Johnny Watson, his brothers and nephews will miss going out to some of the local clubs and playing pool together and just enjoying each other's company. He was a true and trusted friend. James will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this one of kind guy. He leaves a void that can never be filled. Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 James Earl Gay departed this life on January 22, 2014, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include 5 brothers, Johnny R. C.
