Henry Johnson Sr.

Henry Charles Johnson, Sr., age 86, died peacefully at home on Thursday 29 April 2021 in Denver, CO.

He was born on the 22nd of October,1934 in Auxvasse, Missouri, to Buckner and Leola Johnson. He joined the United States Air Force following graduation from high school. He served 21 years, achieving the rank of Technical Sergeant. As a second career, he worked 20 years for the Department of Justice, reaching the position of Correctional Supervisor, retiring in 1994. Retirement gave him the time to enjoy his passions: golfing, bowling, fishing and family.

Survivors include daughter Venesha Criss, Leavenworth, KS; son Troy Johnson (Racquel), Seattle, WA; stepson Vern Scott, Denver, CO; stepdaughter Alva Scott, Los Angeles, CA; several grand and great grandchildren. He also leaves behind sisters Bonnie Faye Wells, Sacramento, CA and Sheila Hernandez, Tampa, FL. Henry was preceded in death by his loving wife Juanita Johnson, his first wife, Venitta Johnson, son Henry Johnson Jr, stepson Edward Scott, brother James Johnson and sister Laura Lewis.

Services will be held at 11am, Thursday 13 May 2021, at Pipkin Braswell Funeral Home, 6601 E Colfax Ave, Denver CO, 80220. Viewing will be available from 10:00-10:45. Burial will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236 at 2 pm. A repast will immediately follow the burial at Clement Park, 7306 W Bowles Ave, Littleton, CO, 80123.
