Freda Maria Gomez was born on February 16, 1938, in Boulder, Colorado; to her parents, SirJo Archuletta and Fannie Marganarce Archuletta. She was the first born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brother, Sonny and her sister, Elaine. Growing up, Freda loved horseback riding and working with her father in the garage. She received her early education by attending Lafayette High School located in Lafayette, Colorado. Freda was the proud mother of Judy, Leroy, and Jerry. Freda united in holy matrimony to Joe Carpio Gomez. They first met while attending a social gathering. To this union, Christine, Joseph, Debra and Andrew were born. Freda and Joe were able to build a home together for their family. She was later blessed with nineteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren, who were an added source of joy and pride in her life. They lovingly called her "Gram" and fondly remember her as loving and always caring when it came to the nurture of her family. She was a Homemaker and loved being the family caregiver. Freda was a fun-loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. Next to her family, her greatest joy would be found as she cooked while listening to Mexican music and drinking an occasional beer. She loved her red beers, dancing and watching soap operas. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful lady, who leaves a void that, can never be filled. To know Freda was to love her. Freda was preceded in death by her sons, Jerry Garcia, Leroy Garcia, and Allen Gomez. Freda Maria Gomez departed this life on September 2, 2014, in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include, a son, Joseph G. Gomez of Denver; three daughters, Christine Griego of Wheat Ridge, Judy Garcia of Denver and Debra M. Gomez of Wheat Ridge; 19 grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and many friends.
