Denise Walker

March 8, 1957 — September 15, 2013

Denise Vanessa Walker was born on March 8, 1957, in Gary, Indiana to her parents, Fred H. Walker and Vivian Winton Walker. She was the tenth of twelve children born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brothers, John, Don, Freddie, Edward, Clifford, Dwight, William, and her sisters, Mertie, Helen, Curley, Cynthia, and Tina. As a child, she enjoyed going to the park with her brothers. She shared a special closeness with her sisters and was known to be a "Daddies" girl. She received her formal education by attending East High School located in Denver, Colorado. Denise was the proud mother of two beautiful daughters, LaTasha and Tasuan. They remember her as loving, kind and one they could lean and depend on her lending a helping hand. She was later blessed with two granddaughters, Monae and Tytiana, who were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. They shared many happy and precious moments together. By profession, Denise was employed with the Denver Public Schools as a Bus Driver. Her co-workers and employers remember her as being hardworking, dependable and dedicated. They also remember her loving Mexican food and being very out spoken. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Denise has been a member of Progressive Church of God In Christ for over thirty years. She has served her church and the Lord as a member of the choir. She truly enjoyed her walk with the Lord and fellowship shared with her church family. She was honored to receive a Breast Cancer Survivor Award. Denise's best friend, Nita "Hotbox" Taylor, maintained close loving relationship through the good times and the bad. Nita will miss hanging out with Denise, taking road trips together, and sharing heart-felt moments with each other. Genuine friendships are unique and the bond will never be broken. Longtime friends, Debbie Efferson and Trudy Shepherd will miss her frank candor; they loved spending quality time together and the fact that she was a true and genuine friend. A cherished fond memory was that of Denise, Tasuan, LaTasha, Debbie and Trudy all visiting Disney Land together. They all truly enjoyed the trip, fellowship and the fun. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this wonderful woman of God, who leaves a void that can never be filled. To know Denise was to love her. Denise was preceded in death by her father, Fred H. Walker, and a brother, Clifford Walker.
