Bayonne Jaqueline Saunders was born to Bill and Jean Saunders on Tuesday, March 22, 1938, in Pueblo, Colorado. Bayonne had one sister, Yvonne and two brothers James and William. Bayonne attended Bassamer Elementary School and Klatching Junior High in Pueblo, Colorado. In 1950, the Saunders family moved to Fort Worth, Texas returning to Denver, Colorado in 1952. Bayonne attended Manual High School (Home of the Thunderbolts) graduating in 1955. Bayonne was the proud and loving mother of 7 children, Michael, Robin, Kim, Kevin, Bayonne, Pam and Alex.
On July 13, 1968, Bayonne married the love of her life, Mr. Bobby Gene Chappell (“Chap”) who became father to her seven children. For 54 years, Chap and Bayonne were inseparable. They were husband and wife, best friends, and perfect companions. Bayonne saved every single Birthday, Valentine’s Day, and Mother’s Day card that she received from Chap for 54 years! Bayonne often stated, “Chap was my one true love, my best friend. I will forever love Chap”.
Bayonne enjoyed watching The Denver Broncos; playing dominos, cooking (her favorite recipe was her delicious Olive Oil Spaghetti) and entertaining. 2370 Hudson was the place to be. You could find Bay and Chap throwing huge Barbecues, parties and gatherings. She Loved entertaining and Happy Times. She was a lover of all types of music from Old School, RnB to Rap. She loved her “JAMZS” as she called them. Bayonne loved her family. Her desire was for everyone to be happy, while living their lives on their own terms. She loved saying Homeboy and Homegirl. To know Bay was to Love her, never a dull moment.
In the early 70’s Bayonne worked at Honeywell and for 25 plus years she worked in housekeeping at Presbyterian St. Luke Hospital. Bayonne’s heart was broken when Chap passed away on May 26, 2021. Their love story continued May 31, 2022, when Bayonne joined Chap.
Bayonne leaves to cherish her memory; 6 children Robin (Larry) Burrell of Mosquite Oklahoma; Kim Parsons of Colorado Springs, CO; Kevin (Gay) Parsons Bayonne Anderson, Pam Anderson, Alex Anderson, Troy Ann Brown, and Verdell Chappell all of Denver, CO; 1 brother James Saunders of Colorado Springs, CO; 21 grandchildren including Ashley Anderson who Bay and Chap raised as their own from a baby; 40 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Bayonne was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Jean Saunders; her brother William Saunders; her sister Yvonne Saunders; her son Michael Saunders, Dale Ray Chappell; and grandson Ray A. Chappell, Sr. and her beloved husband Bobby (Chap) Chappell.
