On April 2, 1956. God blessed us with the birth of Yvette Stewart. She was born in Hope, Arkansas to her late parents Mary C Washington Chapman and Sylvester Hicks. Yvette was the second born to this union. She was raised surrounded by her aunts, Uncles, Sisters, and Brothers who she and her older sister Sylvia were often tasked with taking care of.
As a child Yvette served on the youth usher board at Mt Carmel Baptist church. She enjoyed hopscotch, tetherball, jacks and loved to dress up her Barbie dolls! Yvette was also known for hanging with friends and sucking her thumb.
Yvette attended school at Whittier Elementary, Morey Middle School, and Thomas Jefferson High School. It was during that time she met the love of her life Charles (Clifford) Stewart. From this union two children were born Sheria and Shamone Hicks.
By trade Yvette was an telecommunications operator. In her spare time, she loved spending time with family and had an individual special relationship with each of them. She would take the time to contact them every day. Yvette loved her grandchildren, music, taking, and collecting pictures.
Yvette was in a word loyal. There is nothing that she would not do for you. She always had words of encouragement and was strong in faith but was not afraid to get you straight if you got out of line. There will never be another like her.
Yvette leaves to cherish her memory Son Sheria Hicks Daughter Shamone Hicks. Her Grandchildren Qionn, Aujane, Devyon, Isiah, Thomas, Semia, Christian, Nashon, Kedar, Trinity, Shalynn, and Semaj.
