Mrs. Wyona "Annie" Wise On February 8th, the world became a more beautiful place, for on that day our lives were blessed with Wyona "Annie" Wise. Annie was born to James Banks and Gladies "Lova" Weeams in Marianna, Arkansas. Lova traveled to Colorado to establish a new home; leaving Annie in her grandmother Ophelia "Big Momma" Weeams care. Annie and Big Momma moved to Denver when Annie was five years of age. She was raised by her mother, "Lova" and Norman Harris. She was the oldest of seven siblings. Annie received her formal education in the Denver Public School System. While attending high school she was involved extensively in many class activities. She was a 1956 graduate of Manual High School. She married Ronald Alexander and to this Union, they had three children: Ronald Otha Jr., Aundra Wayne, and Yvette Michelle Alexander. She was a full-time career mother and held employment at Ridge State Home and Training School for the Disabled, presently known as Wheat Ridge Regional Center. Her title commenced as Disability Technician and she retired as a Supervisor. Annie's occupation required that the daily living needs of profound disabled client's were met. She excelled in this career because she was a very special and kind person. Annie had a soothing and loving touch. Her compassion for individualized care never ceased. When Annie's marriage to Ronald dissolved, God blessed her with a wonderful man by the name of Victor H. Wise. When Vic met Annie it was love at first sight. They married on August 24, 1969. During their marriage, Annie and Vic traveled the world. Vic was an avid outdoors man. On so many occasions he and Annie would gather the family for fishing trips to Ogallala, Nebraska. They provided a full stocked camper and boat. The fishing trips involved jet skiing, boating, hunting and camping. Many summer nights were spent sitting by the campsite telling stories, laughing, playing biz whiz, enjoying the open-air and starlit skies. After fishing all day, Vic would clean and fry the fish he caught. Everyone loved going fishing with Annie and Vic. They were so generous that sometimes the excursions included cousins and friends. Vic was an entrepreneur. He owned Vic Wise Auto Body for many years. While married to Annie, they purchased the corner lot on 25th and Welton Street, now known as the Wise-Harris Arms Apartments. Annie and Vic were two of the most generous people and never denied their generosity to those in need. Their love for each other was like the Biblical love story of Jacob and Rachel, one of the greatest love stories of all time between a husband and wife. Vic died tragically leaving Annie a young widow. Annie never remarried. Annie was a God-fearing woman and she served God in many capacities. She was a proud member of Central Baptist Church and was a faithful servant. When asked to serve in any capacity, Annie arose to the occasion and you could always count on Annie to make it a grand affair. She attended church every Sunday for decades and remained a compassionate and dedicated member her entire life. She served as an Usher, Chairman of Women's Day, and a Trustee. Respectively she served on the Pastoral Search Committee. Thus she was instrumental in helping to choose the last two Pastors of Central Baptist Church. Annie was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a beloved aunt and a great friend. She was always accessible. No favor was too big. No request was too small. And sometimes she would just surprise you. There are so many memories from Annie's relationships that words cannot describe. During Annie's lifetime she brought an enormous amount of joy, laughter, unselfishness, forgiveness, compassion and enrichment to everyone. She had a very deep devotion to her children and made many sacrifices to provide for them. "As beautiful as a rose to see, she lived a graceful life. She made things precious by her touch. Her selfless love lives on in each of us." Those left to cherish her memories include, her devoted sons, Ronald Otha Jr., (Jeannie), Alexander Jr., Aundra Wayne (Jaymie) Alexander, her father Norman Harris Sr., her brothers Norman "June" (Jennifer) Harris Jr., Dr. Gary Lynn, (Jennifer "Jen" M.D.) Harris, Sophronia Ann Harris, Rickey (Karen) Harris, Marlean (Ronald C.) Dorsey, Pearl Harris, three grandchildren, Megan Marie Azure, Andre Dion Alexander, Rogan Azure Alexander, seven great grandchildren, Caprice Azure, Kenzie Azure, America Azure, Declan Azure, D'Andre (Boss) Alexander, Lalaela Azure-Alexander, and Ash ante Azure- Alexander . Devoted nieces and nephews, Norman Tarique Harris, Wendy Lea Harris, Chelsea Monique Harris, Jamie Lynne Harris, Corey Jeremiah Harris, Brandon Revere Dorsey, Forest Jefferson Simms III, Rikkea J.L. Harris, Wesley Dean Harris; God children Dr. Sandra Ann Mayfield, Stephanita Baca, and Yvonne Ibanez and a host of many relatives and friends. The petals of her life fell one by one; each a gift of her heart till there were none.
