Willie “Willa” Mae Gaul was born to her parents, Julia Lee Tippens and David Tippens on October 15, 1944 in Louisiana. She was raised with her siblings, Jackie and Verna Tippens. Willa’s parents moved the family to Denver, where she was further educated through Denver Public School system.
Willa was a woman of faith whose ministry expanded beyond the walls of the church. She worked at the Goodwill and ARC where she helped customers locate items that would benefit them. She was a faithful member of New Nation Church for 18 years under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Arthur Porter. She devoted any spare time that she had to building the Lord’s kingdom.
In her free time, Willa enjoyed exploring new restaurants. She also enjoyed cruising downtown to see the infrastructure that had developed. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending quality time and having fun with others.
Those that knew her, describe her as being gregarious and charismatic. She was always ready with a joke and you could often find her hanging out around Five Points and on the Eastside. She will truly be missed.
Willa passed away peacefully into the embrace of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 21, 2023. Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Verna Mae Tate of Texarkana, Texas; brother, Jackie Tippens of Las Vegas, NV; cousin, Joe Thomas of Denver, Colorado; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
