On June 29, 1958, in Lubbock Texas, a beautiful, eclectic baby girl, Willie Dean Goree, was born into this world, to her parents, Colonel George Goree and Goldie Pinkard. Willie Dean was the 7th child born, out of 10 children. Willie Dean was born into a military family who moved around the country many times in her early years. In 1963, when Willie was five, the family found their permanent destination, Denver, Colorado! She loved Colorado for it's wonderful scenery, and gorgeous seasons. Growing up, Willie loved to have a good time, all the time. She loved to dance, going to the club, and being the center of attention. She was stunningly beautiful with an infectious smile, and a love for taking pictures. "We just thank God selfie sticks didn't come out in the 80's." Willie had style and swag that many people would pay for. She always knew the latest songs and fashions, and dance moves. The final chapter in Willie Dean Spirit's Life is one for the ages. Willie always loved and respected the Lord; however in her late 20's, she met the Lord on a more intimate level. She then gave her life completely to God and began doing the Lord's work! Not only was she doing the Lord's work in regards to preaching the gospel, helping the poor, doing missionary work, and converting souls to Christ. She also studied to become a pastor. She experienced some struggles because she was a black woman in a predominantly man's world; she never let that stop her from building an amazing relationship with God. No one loved God more than Willie. She even changed her last name to "Spirit," as she had become one with the Holy Spirit. Willie Dean would often reflect on all of her great family, friends and experiences that helped her become the great woman that she was. She truly loved all her family and friends. And if Willie gave you a nickname, you were in. "Willie would do anything for anybody. You hungry? Willie gotcha back. You need a friend for life? Willie gotcha back. And if you need somebody to party hard with? LOL." Willie will be missed by all those who were privileged enough to have known her. Willie Dean Spirit departed this life into the embrace of the Lord on January 24, 2017, in Denver, Colorado. Willie Dean was met in heaven by her mother and father, as well as her sisters, Pearl and Gwen. Her life and legacy will live on through her two sons, DeCarlo (Tiffany) Garrett, Bobby James (Joy Nicole) Sanders; her siblings, George, Charles, Patsy Ann, Danny Boy, Peggy, Sandra, , and Rène; six grandchildren Keyshawn, Brionna, Ajonte, Torrey, Sydney "Puddin", Demaurion "Chocolate Chip"; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
