Willie Small

June 14, 1937 — February 5, 2013

As beautiful as a rose to see, was her life she lived so gracefully. She made things precious by her touch; her selfless loves lives on in each of us. The petals of her life fell one by one; each a gift of her heart until there was none. Yet her radiance blooms once again in fields of glory with no end. Willie Mae Small was born June 14, 1937, in Wortham, Texas to Arron Chambers, and Clairesse Waffer. The third of six children, Willie was a bossy kid, bossing everybody around. When she was a child, her siblings dared Willie to mess with a cat. The cat attacked her and she became afraid of the room where the cat attacked her. Willie married James W. Small in 1961, where they met in Wortham, Texas. To this union, Tammie was born. Willie, and her entire family, including her sisters, left Texas and relocated to Denver. Loved by many, affectionately called "Moma," lovingly nicknamed "Totsee" by her sister, Willie became a mother of two after being adopted by Curtis Washington. Curtis, from the age of 17 years, would give Willie her only grandchildren; they were her world. All of the children would go to Willie for everything, because when everybody else said "no," she would always say "yes." Willie's co-workers at American Micro Data would call her a joy to be around. She worked tirelessly as a Microfilm Data Entry Technician. Willie was a faithful, committed member of Now Faith Christian Center Church under the leadership of Pastor Leon M. Emerson. She diligently served the members of Now Faith and the Mother's Board for 27 years. Willie was caring and motherly to everyone she met. She loved her sisters and family dearly. We will always remember her smile. She enjoyed hanging with her sisters one day a week for bonding. She spent time with her grandchildren, son-in-law, and daughter. Willie is preceded in death by her; husband James William Small; father and mother, Arron Chambers and Clairesse Waffer; two brothers, Arron Chambers, Jr., and Woody Chambers; one sister Ada Burns. Willie departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on February 5, 2013, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and morn her loss include, one daughter, Tammie L. Howard (Leroy); three sisters, Ivory J. Linville (Ellis), Era Bell Anderson, Texanna Howard(Willie), all of Denver, Colorado; one grandchild, Curtis Washington; twelve great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
