Willie D. Dismuke was born on June 9, 1927 in Hope, Arkansas, to his parents, John Dismuke and Jessie Puslein Dismuke. He was raised with his brothers and sisters, Beatrice, Lorene, Azerine, Junita, Mann, and Hershall. As a child, Willie loved to go fishing. He would sneak out of school to go sit by the water and fish. Willie completed his formal education in the Hope Arkansas School District. After completing his education, Willie moved to Denver, Colorado. Once in Denver, Willie met Octavia Pyles and the loved spending time together. On August 23, 1968, the two were married. He loved fishing so much, he had to marry someone who loved to fish with him, and he found that in Octavia. To this union, they were blessed with, Willie D. Dismuke, Jr. He was the proud father of Gerald, and Joseph. His children remember how he taught them to fish, and the day when their bikes were stolen, and how their father went out the next day and brought them new bikes. Willie was a great father. He was later blessed with 18 grandchildren, Paris, Denise, TC, Tymisha, Jerald, Octavia, Chandell, Jessie, Jerrelle, Joey, Latoya, Kevin Mahala, Marjae, Maleeah, Josiah, Joella, and Chance "Champ", and 17 great-grandchildren. They were an added joy to his life. By profession, Willie was a butcher and worked 24 years for the Pepper Packing Company as the Red Man. He worked with dedication and excellence. His co-workers respected and honored him because of his commitment to his job. In his free time, Willie loved to watch westerns, baseball, the news, and "Sanford and Son" on the television. His best friend, Bill Thornton or "Yogi" as Willie would call him, will miss the love and laughter they shared, and of course, those nicknames he would create for people. Willie D. Dismuke departed thus life on September 2, 2016, in Denver, Colorado. Willie is survived by his sons, Minister Gerald (Lisa Young) Douglas, Aurora, Joseph R. (Amy Craig) Douglas, Denver; 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
