Wesley Anderson, Sr. was born on August 14, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan. He was the second child born to James Martin and Ruth Mae Henderson. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Reginald, Derrick, Eddie, Macktavius and his sisters, Kathy, Ethelene, and Juanita. As a child, his siblings fondly remember that Wesley never wanted to go sleep. He didn't mind lending a helping hand with the care of his siblings whether it was combing and braiding his sister's hair, and other household chores. He always wanted to be the "The Big Boss." Wesley received his formal education in Detroit, Michigan, where he graduated from Northern High School. He furthered his education by attending Red Rocks Community College in Littleton, Colorado, where he earned an Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering. Wesley married Brenda Corine Thomas. They first met when they both lived in Detroit, Michigan. To this union, Wesley, Jr., Karen, and Sharon were born. He was also the proud father of Candance and Dionne. On March 25, 1989, he united in holy matrimony to the former Mary A. Moore. They exchanged vows in the Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by the late Reverend Barcus Adams. With this union, he became the stepfather of Samar, Rashea, and Syeta. Mary fondly reflects on all happy and memorable moments they shared together; especially how he serenaded her. He was later blessed with fifteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren who all were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. By profession, Wesley was employed by Sharp Electric Company as a Commercial Electrician. He was hard-working, dedicated and dependable. He performed his duties with precision and excellence. A man of faith and belief in the Lord, Wesley was a member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. His was also a member of Eureka Club. He served as Secretary for three years. Wesley was a fun loving man, who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he loved singing, dancing, and working out in the gym. He was also passionate about being a dog trainer. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man. To know Wesley was to love him. He is preceded in death by one son, Wesley Anderson, Jr.; two daughters, Dionne Anderson, and Sharon Anderson; his parents, James Martin and Ruth Henderson; two brothers, Eddie Anderson, Macktavius Carter, and a sister, Juanita Gavin. Wesley Anderson, Sr. departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on March 5, 2016, in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his loving and devoted wife, Mary A. Anderson of Aurora; 4 daughters, Karen Rice of Detroit, MI, Candance Cureton of Benica, CA, Rashea T. Nash, Syeta L. Lightfoot both of Denver; 1 son, Samar J. Lightfoot of San Francisco, CA; 2 brothers, Derrick Anderson of Denver and Reginald (Thelma) Anderson of Detroit, MI; 2 sisters, Ethelene Whitsel of Denver and Kathy (Myron) Headd of Nashville, TN; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
