In Loving Memory

Walter "Slim" Hall

January 15, 1951 - August 13, 2019

On January 15, 1951, Walter Louis Hall, was born in Houston, Texas, to his proud parents Louis and Alvarice (Gally) Hall. Walter was the oldest of the seven children born into this family. He was very close and protective of his siblings Gary, Sandra Kay, Eric, Greg, Jimmy, and Demetri Hall.

The Hall family moved to Denver, CO when Walter was 14 years old. He completed his education in the Denver Public School system and was a proud graduate of East High School class of 1969. After high school Walter was drafted into the armed forces. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Vietnam.

When Walter returned to Denver after his military service, he pursued his passion for driving. He began his career as a Cross Country Truck Driver, that lasted for over 30 years. Walter enjoyed the freedom and challenge of cross-country driving. He relished the experience of seeing the country, meeting new people and delivering his cargo on time. He passed this passion on to his son Walter and grandson Chris who have also become cross country truck drivers.

It was in the early 70's when Walter met Rev. Frank and Rev. Wade Davis. They became fast friends and remained very close until his passing. Friendship is a gift more precious than gold. A friend is someone who knows all about you and likes you anyway. Walter became a member of Zion Baptist Church where he served faithfully.

In 1979, Walter met the love of his life, Gloria Jean, who was his next-door neighbor. Over the years and as the oldest of seven children, Walter developed a real talent for cooking. He went over to Gloria Jean's to borrow some sugar, and as the old saying goes, the rest is history. They were married in 1980 and they built a large and loving family of eight children; Darrick, Darrell, Nicole, Sean, Mimi, Tanisha, Brandi, and Lil Walter .

One of the many ways that Walter expressed his love was through his masterful cooking. He literally fed the whole neighborhood. His food would melt the hearts of anyone who was blessed to receive his gift. Barbeque was his signature dish and he could compete with the best.

Walter was a kind, generous and forgiving man. His heart was open to helping wherever he could. During the 2005 hurricane Katrina disaster, Walter was so compassionate about the suffering of the people, that he filled his truck with necessities, at his own expense, and drove to Hattiesburg, MS to help.

Entertaining friends and family, cooking and sharing a great meal, listening to his favorite music, were the highlight of Walter's life. Earth, Wind and Fire's, Let's Groove Tonight was one of his favorite songs, which he played, and it would always bring us together.

On August 13, 2019, Walter "Slim" Hall, departed this earthly life to reside with the creator of eternity. He is proceeded in death by is parents Louis and Alvarice Hall; his siblings, Sandra Kay, Jimmy and Demetri Hall. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved and devoted wife Gloria Jean Hall; his children Darrick, Darrell, Nicole, Sean, Demetria (Michael Pugh Jr), Tanisha (Bradford Winchester), Brandi, and Walter Hall #2; siblings Gary, Eric (Renee), and Greg Hall all of Denver, CO. 17 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and his best friends Rev.
