Versie L. Madison was born August 4, 1947 in Brownville, TN to her parents Sadie Byars Jones and Willie D. Jones, Sr. She was the fifth child born in the family. She was raised along with her sisters, Annette, Sarah, and Lue and her brothers, Larry, Lee, Jackie, Willie, Tommie, Sammie, Richard, James, Andrew and Otis. As a child she was remembered as being the caretaker and very protective of her young siblings. Also as a child she was an excellent self-trained Seamstress and made many clothes for her siblings and friends. She received her education in Brownsville, TN and she graduated from Carver High School in 1967 . On April 11, 1980, Versie united in holy matrimony to William Henry Madison. They first met in Denver, Colorado. They enjoyed forty-five years of marriage and there was never a dull moment. To this union Versie became the proud mother of two beautiful children Brian and William, Jr.. They remember her as a caring mother whose pride and joy was taking care of family, her good cooking, courage and wisdom that she provided. They shared many happy moments together. Later her grandchildren Lavelle , Treshawn and Deonjonaye were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. They all have many happy and memorable moments that they will share. Versie was employed by Denver Public Schools as a Bus Attendant, her co-workers and employers were very supportive and they have kept in contact over the years, remembering her as hard working, dependable, honest and a joy to work around. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Versie was a member of True Faith C.O.G.I.C. and found great joy as a member of the choir. She truly enjoyed her walk with the Lord and the fellowship shared with her church family. Versie was a fun loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled .In her free time , she spent quality time with family and friends and loved to cook and entertain them. She will be missed by all for her compassion and concern she had for them and her outstanding generosity she shared with everyone who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful woman who will never be forgotten. Versie Madison departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on June 28, 2013. Those left to cherish her memories and mourn her loss include her devoted husband, William H. Madison, Sr., Denver; two sons, Brian L. Jones Madison and William H. Madison, Jr., both of Denver; her sister, Sarah Jones Moore, Brownsville, TN and Lue E. Byars Bass, Nashville, TN; her brother, Tommy L. (Alberta) Jones, Denver, Lee B. (Marcia) Jones, Dallas, TX, Sammie L. ((Dorothy) Jones, Miami, FL, Willie D. (Maggie) Jones, Decatur, IL, Larry (Tina) Jones, Jackie Jones, and Richard D. (Henrietta) Jones, all of Brownsville, TN, Andrew and Otis (Vera) Byars, both of Ripley, TN, (3) Grandchildren; a special cousin Linda Wilder Johnson, Denver ;devoted friends, Judy Davis and Bobby Taylor, both of Denver; a host of nieces, nephews, other cousins relatives and friends.
