Veronica Moton

January 12, 1976 — February 7, 2013

The life of Veronica Michelle Moton, began when she blessed her parents, Joe L. Moton and Sarah N. Smith Moton with her birth on January 12, 1976, in Covington, Georgia. She was raised surrounded by her brother, Cory. She was very protective of him and often treated him as if she was his mother. She often made sure he had his lunch money for school and she checked on his whereabouts. Cory remembers her as always wanting to kiss him because she knew he wasn't fond of her doing that and the two of them teasing each other about one of them being adopted because they had different last names. The closeness they shared was carried throughout their life. The family relocated to Denver, Colorado, when she was very young. It was during that time that she received her formal education. Veronica became employed with Wendy's Restaurant. While working, she met a co-worker by the name of Henry Charles. They became a couple and to this union, Laniqua and Saivon were born. She later met Carlos Chaney at a social gathering with family and friends. To this union, a daughter, Sara was born. After a few years, Veronica met Terrance E. Kelly. To this union, a daughter, Teniya was born. She was very caring and nurturing of her children. Nothing was more important than there welfare. They all shared many happy and precious moments together. "Michelle" as she was fondly called by family and friends, was a fun loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. She had a very big heart. She would open her home to anyone who needed help. She was an excellent cook. Her brother, Cory loved her burritos and green chili. She was the type of person who never met a stranger. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Veronica was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church. As her health began to decline and she was unable to work, she continued to get around and was often referred to as "Miss Busy Body" because she wouldn't let her health slow her down. Her family and close friends remember her as always asking someone to prepare her, chicken and noodles and bring her some pop; which was her favorite snack. They also remember her singing the same verse over and over of a certain song "Put it down on me." In her free time, she enjoyed listening to music and sipping on her favorite cocktail. We'll always remember her special smile, caring heart, warm embrace. There will never be anyone who could take your place. To know "Michelle" was to love her. Veronica Michelle Moton departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on February 7, 2013, in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Saivon D. Charles of Aurora; three daughters, Laniqua L. Charles and Sara M. Chaney both of St. Louis, MO, Teniya N. Kelly of Aurora, IL; her mother, Sarah N. Smith; her brother, Cory L. Smith both of Aurora and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins other relatives and many friends.
