Urias Amos Pryor was born on May 2, 1932, in Henderson, Texas to his parents, Wilbert Pryor and Maurine Anthony Pryor. He was the second child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Wilbert, Jr., Melvin, Velton, Sonora, Winfred and his sisters, Annie, and Pennetter. He was educated in the public schools in Henderson, Texas where he graduated from Henderson High School. In June of 1959, Urias united in holy matrimony to Betty J. Williams. The couple exchanged vows in Littleton, Colorado. They enjoyed traveling to Texas, California and Louisiana. To this union, Terri, Michael and Steve were born. They remember their father taking them on the many road trips to Texas as well as the visits to Disney Land. Later his grandchildren, Taquisha "Jené", Dominic, Ryan, Koree, Zachary, Marchele, Raell and his nine great grandchildren were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. They too have many happy and memorable moments of time spent with their grandfather. By profession, Urias was employed in several different places of employment. He has worked as a Machinist for Morsechain, a Truck Driver for AT&T and a Driver for Avis Rental Car Agency. Everywhere he was employed, he was respected as being helpful, dependable and a person who exceeded expectations of his employers. His co-workers enjoyed his positive personality and him being a joy to work with. Urias was actively involved in several civic and community activities. He has been a Free and Accepted Mason for over 50 years, he sponsored the Northglenn Thunders Soccer Team where he was awarded a support certificate in 1971, he was awarded the AT&T Choice Award in 1987 and in 2000, he received an award from the Ebony Strikers Bowling Team. He was also honored to share Pryor and Son Delivery with his sons, Michael and Steve. Urias was a fun-loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed cruises to Jamaica and the Bahamas, visiting the "Hills" both Blackhawk and Central City. He enjoyed attending bowling events both local and national. His closest friends, Harrison Hurd, Joshua Nelson and Chuck Freeney will miss the camaraderie they all shared together and the fact that he was a true and genuine friend. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man who never met a stranger, who carried a jovial personality and who had a smile that would lite any room he entered. To know Urias was to love him. Urias was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert Pryor and Maurine Anthony Pryor, and his sister, Annie Pryor.
