Life’s Journey
Tyree LaVell Wilson
It was June 16, 1972 in Denver, Colorado when Tyree LaVell Wilson was born to Lavernette Wilson and Darryl Andrews. He lived with his mother, grandparents John and Robbie Mae Wilson, and sister Tracey Jones, until the age of about two when he went to live with his great uncle and aunt Clifford and Irene Brame.
Tyree attended Barrett Elementary school, Gove Junior High School, Bishop Machebeuf High School, and Metropolitan State University of Denver. During his formative years he also was a member of Campbell Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church and Gethsemane Pentecostal Temple along with Aunt Irene and Uncle Clifford Brame.
As a family man Tyree was dedicated to his family and provided for his family. He enjoyed the freedom truck driving gave him. He was a hard worker and employers valued his commitment.
His spirituality never left him and he would often post a photograph of a sunrise or sunset to marvel at the wonders of God.
Tyree loved football especially the Denver Broncos and Prince Hall. His love for football stemmed from being a player as a child in the PAL (Police Athletic League) and Machebeuf. He began coaching in his early 20s until 2022 giving young people love, discipline, guidance, mentorship, and encouragement. He recruited his friends to assist because he understood the importance of role models in our community. The devotion he had for Prince Hall was unwavering and steadfast. He loved his players and their families and it showed.
February 14, 2020 he married the love of his life, Yvonne Talamantes. Their 25 year relationship included two sons, three daughers, and six grandchildren. His memory will live on in his wife Yvonne Talamantes. Children: Janassa Brown (Kendal Brown), Eron Talamantes (Kayla Clarke), Darion Lea (Blanca Medina), SaVon Talamantes (Leonard Wright), and NyRae Talamantes. Grandchildren: Mayaha Talamantes, Adrian Ali, Aurielle Talamantes, Siena Brown, Namari Talamantes, and Ay’lah Talamantes. Siblings: Tracey Jones and Courtney Miller. Niece: Carlen Holmes, as well as a host of other relatives and family members.
