Torchia Rosenburg

July 25, 1974 — June 19, 2016

Celebrating the Life of Torchia Evette Rosenburg "A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again". -Maya Angelou Torchia Evette Rosenburg, affectionately known by family as "Tank", was born July 25, 1974 in Dallas Texas to Candy Darlene Starkey and Ronnie Eugene Ray. She was the only child born of this union. She grew up with her two younger brothers: Dewayne Rosenburg and Jermaine Rosenburg. She loved them both dearly, but she was sure to let them know who was the oldest! Her brothers will always remember how loving, caring, and protective she was of them. Nobody messed with her younger brothers. They will truly miss her smile, her cooking, and the passion she had for life and her family. In 1990, Torchia gave birth to her first child, LaTisha Rosenburg. Torchia was a proud, doting, and loving mother who lived and breathed for her children. She attended Montbello High School for a year, and then Hinkley High School, and graduated from Grand Mesa High School in 1994. In that same year, she gave birth to her second child, Keontae Edwards. Her daughter LaTisha will remember her mother as a strong, resilient, enthusiastic, beautifully complicated soul. LaTisha says, "You were the best mother a person could ask for! And I'm so lucky to say that you were MINE!! I will cherish every single moment we had together and will definitely do my best to be even half the woman you were to me, to my children, your beautiful grandchildren". Her son Keontae will remember his mother as being his best friend. Keontae says "When it was me and you together, couldn't nobody tell us nothing. I promised you I'd always hold this family together. With the strength you left me I got you momma…Love you". As a single mother, Torchia worked hard every day to raise two independent, family oriented, young adults. She did this by working as a CNA for 22 years. She sacrificed sleep and her young adult life to make sure her children were afforded every opportunity possible. They will remember the life lessons she instilled in them and the importance of family. For the last 14 years she worked in the Restorative Unit with the Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home. She was hard working, dependable, and performed her duties with precision and accuracy. She was admired by her employers and respected by her fellow coworkers for her willingness to go over and beyond of what expected of her. She was a true team player and a very detail oriented person. She loved her job and her residents. She brought lots of life and made sure her residents were comfortable, she provided exemplary care for her residents. Torchia was a beacon of light to every resident, co-worker, family member and friend she came in contact with. She will be truly missed. Torchia enjoyed worshipping at the Potter's House of Denver. She had been actively attending the church since 2015. She enjoyed the fellowship shared with her church family and the wisdom and knowledge she gained. She truly loves God and she made Him a top priority in her life always. Torchia was a fun loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. Her wisdom and knowledge were often sought out by those she surrounded herself with. Family was Torchia's greatest joy. She was a proud and loving mother and grandmother. She loved laughing and being around family and looked forward to any occasion that would unite them all. She was an amazing cook! Family and friends from all around would often stop by just to taste her delicious food. Fondest memories include Christmas celebrations held at a family member's home each year when she would shower everyone with gifts, love, and a full tummy! In her free time she loved reading books, watching movies, listening to music, and rooting for her beloved Dallas Cowboys. She would get lost in a book for hours and hours on end. She passed this gift onto her daughter and they would trade and discuss books often. She loved to watch and collect movies. One of her favorite past times is listening to music. She passed this gift of the love of music onto her son, Keontae. She also loved experiencing her second home of Colorado by visiting many festivals such as the Black Arts Festival, Juneteenth, the Renaissance Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival, etc. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her best friends Michelle Arguello, Irving Harris, Scarlet Johnson, and Josette Hamlett will remember her for her smile, her loyalty, and the utter joy she brought to into each of their lives. Her love, care, laugh, hugs, smile, wisdom, humor, presence, and general outlook on life will be missed by all that were blessed to know her. Left to cherish her memory are her children, LaTisha Rosenburg (Troy) of Lakewood, CO, and Keontae Edwards of Aurora, CO; two grandchildren, Qualaya Rosenburg-Smith and Ethan Rosenburg of Lakewood, CO; her parents, Candy Starky (Michael) of Aurora, CO; and Ronnie Eugene Ray (Julie) of Las Vegas, NV; her brothers Dewayne Rosenburg (Radiah) and Jermaine Rosenburg of Aurora, CO; her grandparents Betty Hobbs of Aurora, CO, and Maxine Ray of Dallas,
