Tommy Williams

October 12, 1942 — November 17, 2014

Tommy was born to Ernest Williams and Leartry Curuthers on October 12, 1942, in Swiftown, Mississippi. Tommy was the 15th child born to this union. At the age of 12, Tommy, along with his mother and father, moved to Wichita, KS. There as a family they became members of the Gospel Mission Church, where Tommy was saved and baptized. He was very active in the church; he sung in the choir and could really beat a tambourine. He participated in other youth activities and was very faithful in paying his tithes. As a matter of fact, he kept all of his and his wife's tithe envelopes until his death. Tommy had a very kind nature and always gave from his heart. Tommy attended Dunbar Elementary, Mathewson Middle School, and graduated from East High School in 1960. It wasn't long after graduation that he moved to Denver where he was hired at Gates Rubber Company. Upon acquiring his job, he went back to Wichita, married his childhood sweetheart, Bobbie Jones and brought her to Colorado. To this union was born Travis and Rhonda. Later, he met, Catherine Hamilton and to this union Colin was born, and with this relationship, he became father to Ciara. Tommy continued working at Gates Rubber Company for over 40 years, before his retirement. The retirement did not last long; he acquired a job with Denver Coalition for the Homeless and continued his work there until his passing. Tommy will be remembered for his quiet, calm disposition, being a good listener, and having few, but very profound comments. He was known for his swagger; his appearance always neat and clean. Tommy loved his family and made sure that they were well taken care of. He was extremely organized and very wise in business. Tommy had a presence that was comfortable and fun to be around with a warm, infectious smile. His laugh was addictive and he actually had a sarcastic, silly side that rubbed off on all of his children. Additionally, Tommy will also be remembered for his giving heart, a compassion for acquiring and sharing knowledge, and his ability to hold an intellectual conversation. He is preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Williams; his parents, Ernest and Leartry Williams, 6 brothers, Ernest Jr., twins Otha and Auther, Jimmy Lee, Jessie Lee and Cleveland Williams, 4 sisters, L.E.
