Terry Shepard

August 11, 1959 — August 21, 2013

Terry DeWayne Shepard was the fifth of seven children born to Thomas Shepard and Mary E. Devroe Shepard born under the sign of Leo on August 11, 1959. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Thomas, Jr., Kevin and his sisters, Cynthia, Sandra, Debra and Cheri. Growing up, he enjoyed sports. He was an avid basketball player and was a member of the school basketball team. He loved to skateboard. He liked the long hills of West Denver and also enjoyed playing the drums and shooting pool. Although he was born in Denver, he spent most of his summers with his grandparents in Texas on the family farm. The farm life provided many learning experiences which would prove valuable in life not to mention, an ample playground full of woods, lakes and creeks. Terry received his formal education in Denver. He was very musically inclined and developed his talent as each day moved along. He would hum a tune, which was followed by a drum beat and later a song. He would use sticks as drum sticks that in turn would allow him to tap a beat on whatever was near; pots and pans, the table, the floor or an empty 10 gallon bucket. He was a member of the Color Guard while at Whittier Elementary School; he attended Cole Junior High School and he graduated from East High School. He furthered his education by attending Red Rocks Community College located in Lakewood, Colorado where he completed courses in Culinary Arts and Hospitality. By profession, Terry was a Chef/Cook for the Aviation Country Club. He was hard-working, dedicated and performed his duties with a spirit of excellence. His co-workers and employers remember him to be dependable and a person who worked well with others. Terry was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he continued to love and listen to music. He also found joy in playing the drums. His closest friends, Steve and Linda will miss the camaraderie they all shared together. Terry loved to play monopoly and other board games and was always ready for a game of basketball. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man who carried a jovial personality, was outgoing and giving. To know Terry was to love him. Terry was preceeded in death by his father, Thomas Shepard, Sr.; and his brother, Thomas Shepard, Jr. Terry DeWayne Shepard departed this life on August 21, 2013, in Denver, Colorado.
