Tayo Olakanye was born to a large family of the Olakanye's in Ondo State of Nigeria on 7th of June 1958. He was fourth in birth order among other siblings as Clement Mayowa, Cornelius,felix Ore-Oluwa Olakanye. His sister is mrs Foluke Cecelia Ogundele.
A compassionate and strong defender of his family he grew to be. He did not like cheating and unfair conduct shown among people and would always stand up for his family to ensure they received their proper entitlements.
He attended Ondo grammar school, Ondo and later trained as an engineer, by which he became popularly addressed as chief electrical engineer.
He met the love of his life veronica tayelolu in Lagos and married on 28th, July 1979
This marriage was blessed with children including: David Stephen, Gabriel and Michael.
Mr. Tayo Olakanye, as husband, father and grand father was loved so much by every member of the family. He brought so much joy and happiness to everyone he touched and all that came across his path. His many grand children, including Davidson, temitayo, Desire Olakanye, fondly called him “chairman.”
During his life time he actively participated and belonged to several organizations to include:Christ’s Apostolic Church (C.A. C), Christ’s Harvesters Church, Aurora, Colorado and Ekimogun brothers Club.
He is leaving behind many that loved him among them his best friends, Mr. Dele Sowemimo, Mr. Ajayi, Mr. Franklin Ojowa, Mr. Olumide Dele Ige among many others.
