Tamiko Rawlins

January 16, 1975 — November 26, 2016

Tamiko Lachelle Rawlins, commonly and affectionately known as Tiko or Tammy, sometimes even Miko, was born on January 16, 1975, in Leavenworth, Kansas to her mother, Kathy Juanelle Rawlins and father, Larry Huff. She was raised alongside her younger sister, Johnetta. In the early 1980's, Kathy took Tiko and Johnetta and relocated to Denver, Colorado. Tiko attended Aurora Central High School, Hinkley High School, and William Smith as a teenager, which enabled her to meet an endless array of lifelong friends. Since childhood, Tiko worshipped the Lord as a member of All God's Children Assembly. On April 27, 1994, she gave birth to her first child, CléVaughn. A couple years later, she was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus, but God continued to bless, and on September 4, 1999, she gave birth to another son, De'Anthony. He was born premature and sadly passed away on June 9, 2000, at only 9 months old. On September 14, 2000, Tiko had Ta'Lanni, her daughter. She learned to always put God first, and then her children. Tiko attended Everest College and graduated with an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. From then on she attended the University of Phoenix and received her Bachelor's in Criminal Justice. Tiko was known for her very caring and motherly nature. She was also amazingly generous and uplifting. Her home was always open to anyone who needed a meal, a ride, warm clothing, or a place to stay. If you didn't know Jesus, she made sure you would. She was not ashamed of her love for Christ and every day she spread the word of God to anyone around her. She founded Divine Voices in the mid-2000's, a female gospel singing group consisting of family and friends including her sister, Johnetta. In more recent years, she started a youth choir with both of her children and one of her many godchildren, Tameko, who was named after her. Tiko had an angelic voice that was loved by all that knew her and she sang for the Lord every single day. She loved to have fun and live life. She never allowed her illness to steal her joy nor hinder her from accomplishing her goals. Her laugh was contagious and she was easy to fall in love with. She was a great singer and cook. Her fashion sense was unrivaled. She loved her jewelry and high heels. She enjoyed dancing, karaoke, playing cards and dominoes, watching movies, drawing, and just spending time with her loved ones. She had a special, individual relationship with each soul that knew her. She was all about family and very protective of those she loved. Nothing could break her spirit or jeopardize her faith in the Lord. Tiko was a fighter. A beautiful and strong woman with an incredible heart. Her favorite bible quote was "no weapon formed against me shall prosper". Her soul is one of a kind. sorely, she will truly, forever be missed. On November 26, 2016, Tamiko Lachelle Rawlins was reunited with her baby boy, as she departed this life into eternity in Aurora, Colorado.
