Tamika Nichole James was born on March 6, 1980, in Denver, Colorado to Orelia Marie James and Garth Drummond. The union of Johnny Ray Miller and Marie resulted in Tamika being the second of three children. She was surrounded and protected by her older brother, Donnell and her younger sister, Larretta. Larretta and Tamika shared a special bond, a bond that only a sister would understand. Tamika was Larretta’s “second mother,” best friend, confidant, and SafetyNet. She received her early education at Montclair elementary, Smiley Middle, and East High School. After high school, Tamika attended Emily Griffith and the Community College of Aurora. She combined her formal education, life experience and love of people to become a premier customer service expert for Public Service Credit Union, Check Mate, Quick Cash and Kaiser Permanente where she worked the last seven years. Tamika accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Rising Star Baptist church and later joined Bethsaida Temple where she was an active involved member until her health prevented her participation. Tamika was a friendly person with an outgoing personality, warm smile, and quick wit. She was devoted, consistent, hardworking, dependable and independent. She was loyal, never complained and always placed her family first. Tamika’s love for her nieces and nephews was apparent to all who knew her. She unselfishly loved, and those closest to her greatly benefited from her kindness, fairness, and generosity. Tamika mostly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, laughter, dining out with her sister, music, flowers and watching movies. Tamika loved shoes, shopping, watching the food network channel and surprisingly, she also enjoyed the Walking Dead series. Tamika left her earthly body at 6:00 am, Tuesday, September 4, 2018 to reunite in Heaven with her mother, Orelia Marie Miller, grandfather, John James Sr., aunt, Beatrice McGee, uncles, John James Jr., Edward Earl James, James Lee Miller, and Emmette Lee James, niece, DaVae James and close friend, Joshua Earving.
