The beautiful and tenacious, Tamia Karon Johnson was born on September 25, 1981, in Denver, Colorado to her parents, Eldridge Mangrum, Jr. and Gwendolyn Johnson. She was the youngest of five children born in the family. She did not enter this world alone; Tamia was born after her twin brother, Tamilo. These twins would then forge a bond that was both inseparable and immeasurable. She was also blessed to be raised surrounded by the love of her brother, La Issiac and her sisters, Sheanita, and Gloria Jean. Tamia was often described as the "Day Twin" because she was full of light and joyful energy. She was outspoken and clearly expressed her feelings. Tamilo, on the other hand, was the "Night Twin", he was a quiet observer of his surroundings and shy around others. If anyone didn't understand what he was saying, Tamia would step up and express it for him. She was also close to her father and was often called a "Daddy's Girl." She and her siblings shared a special closeness and had many happy and memorable moments together. Tamia received her formal education in Denver. She attended Martin Luther Middle School. While in school, she was voted "Most Popular" and "Best Dressed." Tamia met classmates, who would remain true friends for the rest of her life. In 2000, she graduated from Montebello High School. She furthered her education by attending The Community College of Aurora; as well as completing course in the The School of Massage Therapy. Her dream and aspiration was to become a Social Worker which would allow her to assist others with struggles in life, many of which, she had first-hand knowledge. In 2004, Tamia became the proud mother of Tamiya, her first born bundle of joy. She was later blessed with a baby boy named, Tanell and to make the family complete, Takiya was born. Tamia was a loving and nurturing mother, whose pride and joy was the care of her children. She was actively involved in their daycare and didn't mind volunteering. She often read the Bible to them and wanted them to have the right relationship with the Lord. She loved taking them to the park and swimming. Her children were the "apple of her eye and the joy of her heart." In 2009, Tamia rededicated her life to Christ and was baptized at Friendship Baptist Church of Christ Jesus by Pastor Paul E. Burleson. She became a faithful and dedicated member. She and her children enjoyed the fellowship shared with her church family and the wisdom and knowledge she was gained as she studied the Bible in "spirit and in truth." Tamia was a fun loving young lady, who enjoyed life and those she encircled. She loved to spend quality time with family particularly on Sunday at the home of her mother as they gathered for dinner. Her mom would often say,"Tamia would outdo her making gravy." She had an illuminating smile that would announce her entrance into a room. She was outgoing and energetic. She exuded a feisty personality and was known to "talk the talk & walk the walk." In her free time, she loved dancing, watching movies, and listening to her favorite artists, "E-40 and Young Buck." Tamia would argue the point that she was "E-40 s number one fan". She loved going out with friends to concerts, and other activities. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this "Queen of a Woman" who has left a legacy of love. To know Tamia was to love her. She is preceded in death by her brother, La Issiac Johnson; her grandparents, Gloria and Howard Johnson and her great grandparents, Robert and Gussie Reed.
