Stanley Moore, Jr.

April 23, 1949 — August 9, 2015

Stanley Lee Moore, Jr. was born April 23, 1949, in Denver Colorado to Stanley L. Moore, Sr. and Lavonne V. McKinzy-Moore. Stanley was the fourth child born of eight children. He had three older siblings, Shaneil, Sandra, and Stanlelyanita, and four younger siblings, Samuel, Syngman, Stephan and Soraya. As a child, Stanley was manish, outspoken, and loved to talk over his siblings. He enjoyed playing marbles, being adventurous outside, and fishing with his dad and brothers. His grandma Mable would make him and his friend "June" shovel coal into the wooden stove so she would be able to make the best biscuits ever. While Stanley may have reluctantly shoveled the coal, he loved her biscuits. Stanley was educated in the Catholic School system starting in grade school and continued on in the Denver Public School system, where he graduated from Manual High School. While attending Manual, Stanley was ranked number one in the state for Track and Field in the triple high jump. He received a scholarship based on his talents that would allow him to further his education at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Stanley started working at a very young age. He worked at Jim's market, worked with the milkman in high school and ended his career with Burlington Railroads. Stanley met the first love of his life, Linda Motley, in high school. Linda was shy and quiet, so we can truly say in their case, opposites do attract. They enjoyed music and dancing, and loved going to concerts with each other. From this union, two sons were born, Troy L. Moore and Shane A. Moore. Stanley was raised Catholic. Over his lifetime, he attended many churches, and developed his own personal relationship with God. Later in life, Stanley made every day an adventure. He loved hanging out with his friends on Colfax from the bottom to the top. "Anybody who drove by Colfax and Monaco could spot Stanley; "flying his sign" as he liked to call it, receiving money from people to purchase his lottery tickets and of course, his "beer, cigarettes, and vodka." Stanley loved his family. To his family, he was known as the life of the party. He was a loving father, brother, son, uncle, cousin and friend who taught us all something. He had such a kind spirit; everywhere he went, he was sure to put a smile on your face. Stanley was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Moore; his father, Stanley L. Moore, Sr.; his mother, Lavonne V. Moore-Williams; stepfather, Ronald Williams; and his sister, Stanleyanita Moore. Stanley Lee Moore departed this life on August 9, 2015 at Denver Hospice in Denver, Colorado. He will truly be missed. He leaves to cherish his memory, his sons, Troy L. Moore, Shane A. (Tarah) Moore; his grandson, Langston Moore; his brothers, Samuel K. (Aretha) Moore, Syngman F. (Maureen) Moore, Stephan A. (Dee-Dee) Moore; his sisters, Shaneil R. Moore, Sandra (Ronald) Fisher, Soraya Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
