Life’s Journey Alfred Lee Raglin, Sr. SSGT, U.S. Air Force (Retired) When you plant seeds in the lives of others and water them with love and care; You will reap a harvest of sweet memories that will follow you everywhere. Alfred Lee Raglin was born on October 6, 1931 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was raised surrounded by the love of his mother, Agnes Raglin. He received his formal education in Atlanta, GA, where he graduated from Booker T. Washington High School (the same school attended by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.) Alfred developed a love for sports and was very active in football, baseball, and basketball. In 1951 after graduating from high school, Alfred enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his tenure in the Air Force, he was stationed in France, Korea, Vietnam, and Lowry Air Force Base her in Denver .He served his county with honor and distinction and retired after 24 years of faithful service in 1974 as a SSGT. In addition to his military career, Alfred had a great passion and love for the children in the community and was actively involved in there high school and college athletic activities and events. He was very active with Watch Care Academy, Loyal Friends Forever and the Red Shield Community Center. He also worked as a baseball, football and basketball Official for high schools and colleges for over 35 years and paved the way for other black officials. Later, Alfred pursed a career in security with the Denver Public Schools system. He was hard-working , dedicated, and performed his duties with a spirit of excellence. He continued to share his interest in the sports discipline with the students and was known for being able to reach many young people and guide them in the right direction. Alfred once said, in reflecting over his life, the most influential people in his life were his mother Agnes, and two uncles. Two of his favorites quotes from his mother were, “Son, whatever you put into something , that is what you are going to get out of it”, and “Man gives the award, god gives the reward” Alfred was a fun-loving man, who enjoyed life and those he encircled. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this one of a kind and wonderful man who never met a stanger. To know Alfred was to love him Alfred Lee Raglin departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on July 28, 2017, in Denver, Colorado. Those lef to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his children, Janice Raglin Culpepper, Alfred Raglin, Jr, Craig Raglin, Donnita Raglin - Howard, and Minister Randy L. Raglin; a host of Grandchildren, Graet Grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
