Born to Dorothy Lee and Allen Hill on June 12, 1962, in Albuquerque, NM, Silverene was the youngest of eight children. Still, she was determined to never be left behind, to never go unnoticed, and to always (always) let everyone know that she had an option-and exactly what it was. Silverene was, in short, the life of the party. In one sitting, she could talk to you through any life problem, have you dying of laughter, and when all was said and done, have you ready to take on the world.
Silverene attended grade school in Albuquerque, NM then relocated to Denver, Colorado at the age of 15 and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1980. She went on to study Early Childhood Education and received her Associate's degree in Business Management from Park's College. In 2015, Silverene became a board Member of the family business, Dorothy's Soft Touch.
At the age of 10, Silverene gave her life to Christ and was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She continued her Christian journey at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado.
As a God-loving Christian, Silverene united with Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in 1986 and was a proud member. She vowed to serve under the shepherding of Reverend Dr. Jules E. Smith as an angel choir director, lead tenor, nursery attendee, and youth counselor, until the Lord whispered for her to come home- a promise she kept.
While Silverene's impact was great everywhere she went, there was no greater impact of hers than how she loved, cared for, and educated children. Her pride and joy in life was her in-home daycare, but she spread that love to any and every child she came in contact with. Ms. Sil's, as she lovingly called it, brought relief to a multitude of families to whom she extended a hand in hard times. She was the second mother to so many, all of whom still regard her adoringly.
Beyond her love for the Lord, His church, and His calling to her, Silverene had only one other great love-her family. She married her husband, Brian McClain, on September 26, 2009, and was a devoted and doting wife. To her, happiness was cooking up his favorites, hanging with their closest friends, and experiencing live music together.
Beyond that, being with her grand-babies was the highlight of her life and her house became the hub for family events. She loved to host dinners where she served up her infamous New Mexico Green Chile stew, her peach cobbler, or her delicious spaghetti. She also loved to host watch parties for every football game where people got to see her loyal and passionate devotion to the Denver Broncos.
Silverene went home to see the Father on June 14, 2019 but nothing shines brighter than the life and the woman she was throughout it. The wife to the mate of her soul (Brian McClain), the mother to five: Gregory (Celise) Butler Jr., David Butler, Ashley Hill, Allison Butler-Wozniak (Joseph), and Fonshea Cross; and the sister, aunt, cousin, niece, nana, play auntie, and living star to so many, Silverene lived life big and on her own terms. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Allen & Dorothy L. Hill & her brothers, James A. Hill, Otis C. Hill, & Ronnie L. Hill. She was survived by her children, grandchildren, sisters, Peggy A. (Charles) Harris, Albuquerque, NM and Debra Hargrove Denver, CO, brothers, Alvin K. (Carla) Hill Centennial, CO and Elliot L. Hill (Ray), Denver, CO, eleven grandchildren, nine God-children, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many friends.
