Celebrating the Life of: Sherry Ann Burgess April 24, 1959 - July 15, 2017 “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” ECCLESIATES 3:1 Sherry Ann Burgess was born on April 24, 1959, in Omaha Nebraska to her parents, Charles Leonard Burgess Sr. and Earnstine Lee Burgess (Tina). She was the first born in the family. She was raised and surrounded her five brothers: Charles Jr, Darryl, Lionel, Terrence, Mark and sisters Marla and Lisa. As a child she loved to cook and clean; mainly because as being the oldest child she had the responsibility of helping to taken care of her younger siblings. She loved doing the things that most girls enjoyed doing: playing with dolls, doing the whole dress-up thing. She really enjoyed playing all the board games with or brothers: Monopoly, Risk, and Cards. She loved when the holiday season came around, because she really got to do the things she most enjoyed as mentioned: cook meals, and staying up late nights playing all the games she and her siblings enjoyed. She loved her siblings dearly, but with raising she also took on the role as a disciplinary figure often times with pretty funny ending as in one occasion: locking her brothers out of the house in order to keep it clean. She was after all a very clean/neat person, which ultimately rubbed off on her siblings after years of watching her. Sherry Ann, which is what her parents and siblings always called her, received her formal education by attending South High School in Denver, Colorado. In her life-time Sherry gave birth to two wonderful girls: Alisa and Jantha; her only cherished son, John. Later her loving grandchildren brought her great joy, Cierra Brown, Jasslyn Reeves, Jaylayah Reeves, and C’Aundra Burgess who all nicknamed her “Granny Dukes”. She also had a life-long best friend whom she loved: Debra Batson. As Sherry Ann became older in years she got and stayed very close to her children and grandchildren which were the joys of her life. Sherry Ann also in being the person she was took care of her dad in his remaining days of life. Sherry Ann wanted nothing more out of life than to be surrounded by her family. By profession, Sherry Ann worked within various Healthcare facilities as a Dietary Assistant, which coincidentally was how she spent most of her life helping, cooking, and assisting others. Sherry Ann’s spirit of giving and gentleness will be remembered by all who know and loved her. Sherry Ann was preceded in death by two of her brothers: Terrence Lee Burgess Sr. and Charles Leonard Burgess Jr. On July 15, 2017 Sherry Ann Burgess departed this life; whose soul is now back into the hands of her God; Lord Savior Jesus Christ who gave it. Sherry Ann would want her remaining parent: Earnstine, Her children Alisa, Janthan and John, siblings: Darryl, Lionel, Mark, Marla; Lisa. and all her grandchildren to remember her fondly, to know that there is a purpose for everything whether one knows it or not, and “There is a time to be born, and a time to die”. We can’t have one without the other, and it’s only a part of living. Therefore, get busy living and cherishing the few moments we only get to be, and see each other as it pertains to this life.
