Sarah Evans

Sarah Mae Evans was born on December 31, 1933, in Oktaha, Oklahoma, to her parents, Button Evans and Willie Mae Johnson Evans. She was raised surrounded by her brothers, Louis, Fred, Roy, Alfonso, Jerry and her sisters, Leola, Sarah, Letha, Callie, Yvonne, Annie Jean and Cynthia. Growing up, she enjoyed fishing, playing jacks, and softball. She was a very outgoing young lady and made friends easily. Sarah accepted the Lord as her personal savior at a very early age in Oktaha, Oklahoma. She was baptized in the Oktaha Baptist Church by the late Reverend C. L. Gilkey. When Sarah completed her formal education, she relocated to Wichita, Kansas and started working. She later relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada. She became employed by the Marriot Hotel chain. She was hard working, dependable and dedicated. She retired after many years of faithful service. After her retirement, she moved to Denver, Colorado to live with her sister, Letha. Sarah was a fun loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she loved to travel and spent many happy and precious moments with her family. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful lady. To know Sarah was to love her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Button and Willie Mae Evans; a sister, Annie Jean Scruggs; six brothers, Louis Evans, Fred Evans, Roy Evans, Alphonso Evans, Button Evans, Jr. and Jerry Johnson. Sara Mae Evans departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on July 19, 2013, in Northglenn, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include 5 sisters, Leola Moore, Natchitouches, LA, Letha B. Simon, Denver, Callie (Rev. Wardell) Coutee, Yvonne Mosley, all Natchitouches, LA, Cynthia (Jerry) Walker, Las Vegas, NV; her Godson, Jamerson Redd, Denver; her devoted friend, Bernard Williams, Aurora and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and many friends.
