Raised in Detroit, Michigan, the family attended Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church where she came to know Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Dedicated to education and lifelong learning, Sandra completed her bachelor and master degree studies at Wayne State University in Detroit. Sandra's earthly journey was a Spirit-filled life of service and song. She was one of the first female letter carriers for the US Postal Service in Detroit. As a Senior Job Corps Admissions Counselor for Del-Jen, Inc., she was honored by the Boy Scouts of America and was the recipient of the Jerome Schaller Award for her excellence in service to youth in the Denver area. Sandra was an active member of the American Legion Vietnam Women's Memorial project and the National Women's Veteran's Conference where she was honored for her outstanding commitment to the issues and concerns of women who served. A vocalist for the Third Army Soldiers, Sandra used her gift of song to set the tone of patriotism and compassion for numerous veterans groups including, the 1989 "Stand Down" POW/MIA recognition ceremony, the American Legion Mid-Winter conference, and various Army/Air Force installations throughout the country. She performed for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and sang with the Tabernacle Choraleers, the Wayne State University Singers, and the Denver Parks and Recreation Civic Chorus.
