Sandra Kizzee

December 10, 1963 — November 5, 2015

Sandra Faye Kizzee was born on December 10, 1963, in Denver, Colorado to Esther and Gilford Kizzee, Sr. She was the youngest child born to this union. She was raised with her siblings, Wayne, Diane, and Gilford. They affectionately called her, "Boo." As a child, Sandra enjoyed having fun, hanging out with her older siblings, family, and friends; she was a loving child, who was also spoiled rotten. She always let it be known that she was the "baby" – meaning she could do no wrong. Sandra attended Denver Public Schools and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. After graduation, she attended Emily Griffith Opportunity School, and later, LaVonne's Lane Beauty Academy, where she received her cosmetology license. On September 16, 1987, Sandra and Leonard Mays became the proud parents of a son, DeShaughn Mays. They were both ecstatic over the birth of their baby boy. Sandra later became employed as a Customer Service Representative at Convergys. She worked there for over 12 years before she decided to go back to school to pursue her love of cooking. She enrolled in a culinary arts program called "To Succeed." In October 2015, Sandra obtained her certificate as a Professional Chef. It was an accomplishment Sandra was very proud of. Seven years ago, Sandra's health began to decline, but she did not let that stop her from pursuing her dreams and doing the things she enjoyed. She went back to work doing cooking demos for King Soopers. She was there five years, until she passed. During Sandra's childhood, she became friends with Pam Harris and Deborah Gilson. They were known as the "Three Musketeers" and became lifelong friends. She also met Henry "Henny" Cox at a young age and in the last two-years of her life, they became very close. Sandra will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her. She will never be forgotten. Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Gilford Kizzee, Sr.; her brother, Gilford Wayne Kizzee; her grandmother, Merlene Swain; and her childhood friend, Deborah Gilson. Early Thursday morning on November 5, 2015, Sandra's health took a turn for the worse and she was called home to do what we all had tried to make her do…rest. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, DeShaughn Mays; her mother, Esther Taylor; one grandson, King Dai'Jiayr Mays; two brothers, Wayne Scott and Gilford Kizzee, Jr.; two sisters, Diane and Reba Ann Kizzee; one aunt, Helen Jones; four uncles, James Scott, Thomas Scott, Monroe Kizzee, Bristow Kizzee; two nieces, Wendy Brewer and Rachelle Vasquez; five great nieces, Jhada, Jhane' and Jhayonna Brewer; TaJane' Hobley and Zaire Benjamin; two great nephews, Tony Brewer and Ronald Brewer-Thomas; one great-great niece, Alaya Brewer; her devoted friends, Pam Harris and Henry Cox; and a host of other relatives and friends.
