SALLIE DOTSON HAYWARD QUALLS
Sallie Ann Dotson, third of four children, was born in Denver, CO on June 12, 1944, to Curtis and Pearl Dotson. She and her siblings – Gloria, Curtis, Adair - all grew up in their Denver family home. Sallie passed away on November 10, 2021.
Sallie attended Wyman Elementary, Morey Junior, and Manual High School. She worked for many years at the University of Colorado Medical Center in the OB/GYN Clinic as an administrative intake care associate.
From her first marriage to Willie Hayward, Sallie had two daughters, Stephanie Hayward Utsey and Sherri Hayward. She was the grandmother of five, and the great grandmother of six. Willie passed away in 2009.
Sallie was a very active member of Redeeming Love Fellowship Church for thirty-two years where her second husband, Rev James Edward Qualls, was an associate pastor. He passed away in 2003.
Nicknamed “Precious” by her loving church family, Sallie willingly took on many tasks which included Superintendent of Sunday school, choir member, janitor, usher, Mother Board, Finance committee, and Victorious Women. She was honored in 2016 by her Church with its “Heroine of Hope” award.
Her interests included her many, many church activities, being involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, being in touch with her friends, and enjoying the Broncos and Rockies games.
She is survived by her two daughters: Stephanie (Terrance) Utsey and Sherri Hayward; her five grandchildren: Janiece Barber, Leigha Bowie, Rachel Brown, Ayrron Brown, Jared Banks; her six great grandchildren: Rebekkauh Barber, Jayden Lavigne, Sydney Lavigne, Julian Harris, Simone Harris, Joel Brown.
Others surviving include her brother, Dr Curtis (Carol) Dotson; her nieces: Pearl Henderson-Mixon, Jackie Henderson, Adriann Taylor, Carla Pradia, Dionne Dotson; her nephews: Alan Dotson, Curtis Dotson III, Robbie Henderson; many great-nephews and nieces, and numerous loving friends including her lifelong ‘sister’, Beverly Buckmon, and her godchild, Cheryl Buckmon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis Sr. and Pearl Dotson; her sister, Gloria Henderson; her brother, Adair Dotson; her brother-in-law, Robert Henderson; her sisters-in-law, Iris Dotson and Tommie Dotson; her first husband, Willie Hayward; and her second husband, Edward Qualls.
