Roxanne Short

Roxanne Denise Short was born on December 16, 1957, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania to her parents, William Short and Beverly A. Jones Short. She was the second child born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brothers, Clifford, Darren and her sisters, Elisa and Billie. As a child, she loved to sing, dance and was quite good at playing sports. Roxanne received her formal education in Denver, Colorado where she graduated from Manual High School in 1974. In 1975, she united in holy matrimony to James Rogers, Sr. in King Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado. To this union, James Rogers, II was born. She was also blessed with two beautiful daughters, Roxanne and Qwanashaya . The family shared many happy and precious moments together. She was later blessed with eight grandchildren, RayJon, Davihon, Christopher, Kalynne, Tatyana, Larry, Elijah and Elaya who were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. They all remember her attending their graduations, singing to them and playing games. They too have many happy and memorable moments together. By profession, Roxanne was employed as a Short Order Cook. She was employed by many of the local restaurants, hospitals and hotels. She was a hard worker and performed her duties with a spirit of excellence. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Roxanne has been a member of King Baptist Church for over 45 years. She truly enjoyed the wisdom and knowledge that she gained as she studied the word of God. She also sang in the church choir. Roxanne was a fun loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed listening to music, watching reality television and spending quality time with family and friends. Her closest friends, Debra Collins, Gwen Johnson and her daughter, Roxanne "Witchey" shared a close camaraderie. They all enjoyed the special time shared with one another. Roxanne will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful lady. To know Roxanne was to love her. Roxanne Denise Short departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on May 24, 2014, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, James W. Rogers, Denver, Roxanne V. Short and Qwanashaya Y. (Reverend Shawn) Rollins, Jr. all Aurora; 2 brothers, Clifford L. Short and Darren Short Scott both Denver; 2 sisters, Elisa J. (Charles) Goss, High Point, NC and Billie M. (Minister Darryl) Hicks, Sr., Denver; 8 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins other relatives and many friends.
