Rodney Harris

November 6, 1970 — May 14, 2021

Denver, CO

Rodney Tyrone Harris, 50 of Denver, Colorado passed away peacefully on May 14, 2021. Rodney was  born to his parents Willie and Beatrice Harris on November 6, 1970 in Denver, Colorado, and was one of three children born to this union. As a child, Rodney clinged to his mother and was the definition of a “Mothers Boy”. She would oftentimes help him build a fire under his bed to ward off the monsters, which in turn gave her the opportunity to get more sleep. He took after his mother’s artistic abilities, creating pencil sketches, acrylic paintings, and pastel paintings.

Rodney spent his entire life in Colorado, where he was educated through Denver Public Schools. He was oftentimes known to be the class clown and knew how to make everyone laugh. In 1988 he graduated from Montbello High School and took further interest in Job Corps. This program was a voluntary program that offers free-of-charge education and vocational training to young men and women ages 16 to 24. This would be the beginning of Rodney’s voluntary ministry.

Rodney was an entrepreneur by heart, he was filled with new ideas and wanted to be a blessing to those who wanted an opportunity to create their own blueprints. To know Rodney was to love him, beyond his artistic abilities, he also enjoyed cooking, making facial masks and spending time with his family and friends. Rodney’s children were everything to him, they would oftentimes share with other how he always made an effort to accumulate discounts at Kentucky Fried Chicken, which always made them laugh. Although Rodney’s life was short lived, his legacy and impact were priceless. He will truly be missed.

He is survived by his parents Willie and Beatrice Harris; children Ashon, Amory and Lavaya; sisters Yolanda Harris and Chantelle Harris; nieces Cherish, Destiny, and Chasity; nephews Darius and Evan; friends Brian, Adam, PJ and many others.

Due to the pandemic, the Harris family will be holding services privately.
