Robert Perkins

Robert Hughe Perkins was born on September 10, 1934, in Memphis, Texas to his parents, Leroy Perkins and Katherine Boxton Perkins. He was the only child born in the family. As a child he would play football and loved air planes, a loving memory of his childhood is he wanted to become a pilot. He received his formal education in Plainview, Texas where he graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. He furthered his education by attending the Community College of Las Vegas in Las Vegas, NV where he received his Bachelor Degree in Business. Robert enlisted in the United States Navy in 1952 and served to 1955 stationed in San Diego, CA., he received the Service Medal. While in the military he married Peggy J. Green who he met in Plainview, TX, they were married on February 25, 1953, in Clovis, NM. To this union nine children were born, four sons, Albert, Jonathan, Berket and Tommy and six daughters, Diane, Junita, Melentha, Alburtel, Frankie and Ethel. Robert worked for Continental Airlines in the Sales Department and held the position of Supervisor. His co-workers remember him as friendly and very caring. Robert was a member of Booker T. Washington Baptist Church, were he was a Deacon. Robert was blessed with twenty-four grandchildren and frothy-eight great-grandchildren. In his free time he enjoyed spending time his family and best friend Richard. He will be remembered for as a kind, giving and loving person. He is preceded in death by brother Jonathan Perkins, sister Junita Mitchelle, and sister Diane Cooks. Robert Hughe Perkins departed this life on September 15, 2016, in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memories include 4 sons, Albert R. (Shirley) Perkins of Aurora and Berket M. (Annette) Perkins, Sr. of Denver, Pastor Tommy L. (Jeannie) Mitchell, III; 4 daughters, Melentha K. (Roosevelt) Thomas, Alburtel M. Perkins all of Aurora, Frankie E. Baucom of Atlanta, GA and Ethel Y. (Destry) Allen of Aurora; a step-daughter, Peggy L. (Barren) Carnegie of Aurora; 24 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and many friends.
