Robert James Claitt was born on November 3, 1943, in Moultrie, Georgia to his parents, Clarence Claitt and Trudy Holloway Claitt. Robert was the second of eight children. He was raised with 5 brothers, and 2 sisters. His siblings remember him being a player, a ladies man; he liked the girls. Robert attended high school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He played basketball in high school and in 1961, he graduated. Robert also attended Emily Griffith and obtained a Culinary Arts Degree, certifying him to be a chef. Shortly after completing his formal education, Robert enlisted in the US Army. He was stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado, while serving his country from March 1968, until he was honorable discharged, March 1974. Robert met Noreen Marie Franklin while he was yet trying to be a "Player." She passed on his advances at first, but he eventually caught her eye and her heart. On December 31, 1991, Robert and Noreen married to become on union with a blended family of six children, Robert, Benita, Andrea, Dewan, Curtis, and Corey. The family would enjoy some memorable moments together. Later, Robert was blessed with 18 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren who were an added source of joy. The grandchildren would lovingly call Robert, "PaPa." By profession, Robert was a truck driver for Consolidated Frieghtways for over 24 years, until he retired in May 2002. He enjoyed his work and operated in the spirit of excellence. Robert attended Central Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado for the past 22 years. Robert loved the Lord and always loved to fellowship with the church members. Robert enjoyed traveling, dancing, his family, and going to the Hill of Blackhawk. He loved to attend his grandchildren's sporting events, and wearing his Kango hat. He was a connoisseur of fine liquor, and an avid Raider's Fan. Robert will be missed by his family and friends. Robert James Claitt departed this life on August 27, 2015 at his home in Denver, Colorado. He leaves to cherish his memory and to mourn his loss, his devoted wife of 34 years, Noreen Marie Claitt; his children, Robert, Benita, Andrea, Dewan (Angie), Curtis (Jill), Corey (Stephanie); his brothers, Larry, Emanuel; his sister, Ann; 18 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
