Rickey Payne

July 9, 1964 — July 23, 2016

The sun rose on the life of Rickey Alan Payne on July 10, 1964, in Dodge City, Kansas, to his parents, Mitchell Evans and Daisy Mae Payne. He was the oldest of four children. As a child, he was outgoing and funny; he was known as "Slick Rick". He attended East High School in Denver, Colorado, where he earned his high school diploma. Rickey was united in marriage with Tammy Payne on December 15, 2005. She remembers, "He was filled with joy and laugher, a hard worker, a good husband and father". He was the devoted father of four children, Tanequa, Rickey Jr, Isaiah, and Steven and three stepchildren, DeMarco, Jerald, and Makisha. Their Dad taught them to be tough. He would say, "Life is hard, but no matter what keep pushing, fat meat is greasy!" He had a special relationship with all his children. He also enjoyed being with his grandchildren, Tayshawn, Taylijahnea, Da'lijh, Khalijah, Zi'Maryon, Demarrion, Jasriit, Kamaryion, and Princess. Their Grandpa, as they would lovingly call Rickey, always spoiled them by buying them toys and giving them candy. "We won't forget how he went hard for the BRONCOS…but we all know he's from Kansas!" He made a life in Colorado where he felt it was truly home. As a supervisor, by profession, Rickey was employed with Denver Health and Hospitals. He previously worked with Lutheran Medical Center for 10 years in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, where he received the employee of the month certificate and a 10 year pin. He was known for his dedication, hard work, being easy to work with, and being loved by his co-workers. He knew the Lord and knew that the Lord loved him. In his free time, Rickey enjoyed family, friends, and playing video games with his children. His best friends were Mike Epperson, Akio Clark, and Guy Burrell, lll. Everyone loved his cooking, especial his brisket, meat loaf, and BB-Q. His favorite colors were purple and gray. He really loved music and movies. His favorite movie was the Ten Commandments. He was caring, loving, and a joy to his family. His love and wonderful smile will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have shared a part of his wonderful life. To know Rickey was to love him. The sun set on the life of Rickey Alan Payne on July 23, 2016, in Denver, Colorado, when he passed into eternal rest. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Tammy Payne; his sons, Rickey Alan Payne, Jr., Isaiah Ja'Quan Payne, Steven Whiteside, Demarco Dwayne Boston, Jerald Ladawn Thomas; daughters, Tanequa Latisheana Dishawn Payne, Makisha Brisha Nicole Williams, all of Denver; mother, Daisy Mae Payne of Denver; brothers, Mitchell (Norma) Evans, Augustus Taylor Evans, both of Denver; sister, Daisy Bates, of Denver; 9 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Rest in peace… Rickey
