LTC (Ret.) Richard Martin Jimmerson (Ricky) was born in Ft Campbell, Kentucky on November 26, 1953 and passed away on May 19, 2024, at the age of 70. Richard is predeceased by his father Richard Jimmerson Jr., his mother, Esther Lucille Martin Jimmerson and his sister, Deborah Lane. He is survived by his four sons, Richard (Martin), Justin, Jason and Steadman Hart, his brother Gregory Jay Jimmerson and Cousin Carlos Worm.

Richard attended Austin Peay University in Clarksville, Tennessee on a basketball scholarship winning fourth place in 1973 NCAA Basketball Championship. He graduated in 1975 with a major in political science and a minor in philosophy. While in university, he attended Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) and upon graduation, joined the US Army. Richard proudly served his country for 22 years with tours in Ft Sill, Oklahoma; Germany; Ft Belvoir, Virginia; US Army Corps of Engineers in Liberia, West Africa; Command and General Staff College in Ft. Leavenworth, KS; 8th Infantry Battalion in Dexheim, Germany; reserve support in Albuquerque, NM; retiring out of Ft McPherson in Atlanta, GA in 1997 as a Lieutenant Colonel. He subsequently earned an MBA and MS in IT administration from Webster University.

In 1989, while on assignment in Liberia, Richard met and married Kathryn Smythe. The couple had two children in 1990 and 1994. Following his retirement from the Army, Richard and the family moved to Centennial, Colorado where he worked for Quest Communications for seven years. In 2008, Richard and Kathryn separated, and Richard moved to Austin, Texas where he worked for the IRS and then on to Samoa where he worked as a Financial Advisor to the Samoan Government for several years. At the end of his contract with the Samoan government, Richard retired to El Paso, Texas where he spent his final years. 

Richard proudly declared that he was the master of reinventing himself having had several career changes in his life. He cherished the many friendships he made throughout his varied career. Richard was an avid sports fan with a love for all sports and a passion for golf. He will be fondly remembered and missed by his surviving family who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
