Richard Mark Jackson was born as Richard Mark Marlowe on August 5, 1954 in Hamtramck, MI. to Dr. Joseph Marlowe DDS and Jossie Marlowe. He was the youngest of 2 sons born to this union. After the death of Dr. Marlowe , his mother Jossie was later united in Holy Matrimony to Herman Jackson, a daughter Mary was born to them and the family became one. Richards parents and brother both preceded him in death.
Richard attended St. Martin DePorres High School in Detroit and served as a cook in the United States Navy, which fueled his passion for cooking as a hobby after discharge. His career as a security officer began in the McNamara building in Detroit and he also worked in other Federal Buildings in Detroit. After relocating to Colorado, Richard worked as a security officer at King Sooper.
In 1987, Richard was united in Holy Matrimony to Marie and started a new life with son Richard Jr, and daughters Chaundra and Chanelle. The family grew to include 2 grandsons, Lawrence Jr and Khaliq who lovingly call him "Papa"
An avid Saxophonist, Richard enjoyed various types of music, but especially Jazz and Motown and often referred to himself as the greatest Saxophonist of all times. David Ruffin and the Temptations were his favorite performers. Richard had many interests and hobbies including Mortuary Science, building model train layouts and traveling to Las Vegas, California and Florida and spending time with his family. He was very personable and would strike up a conversation with almost anyone. He even made a lasting impression on the healthcare workers where he frequented over the last few months with his sense of humor.
Richard departed this life on June 6, 2020 with his wife by his side.
He leaves to cherish his life and memory, Marie, his loving wife of 33 years, son Richard Jr., daughters Chaundra and Chanelle (Koudouss), sister Mary (Michael), grandchildren Lawrence Jr. and Khaliq, Mother in law Delores Moore, a host of other family including 6 sister in laws, 6 brother in laws, and many friends.
Richard is laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
