Richard Baker

August 10, 1956 — December 7, 2016

Richard 'Ricky' Wayne Baker was born on August 10, 1956 to Robert Murray Baker, Jr. and Mary Corinne Baker. He was the third of five boys or the 'Middle Man' as he liked to refer to himself. He always felt his position as the middle child gave him a special place as the great mediator in disputes among the boys. In reality it meant the two oldest picked on him, and he picked on the two youngest. This spot as a mediator carried over to his later life. Ricky was a peacemaker and looked to please those around him. Ricky suffered serious hearing loss as a small child; however, with the help of hearing aids, he never let this disability deter him from anything in life. We all know he had a tendency to speak loudly, but this was only because he assumed everyone had the same difficulty hearing as him. Richard was educated in the Denver Public School District, attending Columbine Elementary School, Cole and Kepner Junior High Schools, and Manual High School. It was in the neighborhood where he met lifelong friends Carl, Henry and Paul Koonce, creating many memories growing up in Denver. Richard attended Mesa State College in Grand Junction, CO where he studied electronics. He was an entrepreneur and was always exploring new business ventures. His latest endeavor included driving for Uber, where he thrived at being his own boss. Ricky had a heart of gold and was generous to all who knew him. He was an active supporter of St. Jude Hospital displaying his giving spirit. His smiling face and sociable personality will be missed by family and friends alike. Ricky was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Corrine Baker, his father, Robert Murray Baker, and his brother Scott Gregory Baker. Richard departed this life on December 7, 2016 in Denver, Colorado. He is survived by his brothers, Robert M. (Loretta) Baker III of Louisville, KY, Gary S. (Marcella) Baker of Denver, CO and Kevin D (Joanne) Baker of Aurora, CO; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
