On March 23, 1952, a 14 year old by the name of Shirley Temple Williams gave birth to Bobby Gene Williams in Homerville, GA and due to her youth, she gave him to the Reverend Arthur Bonner Rossman and Alberta Rossman to raise. Reverend Bonner was the pastor of several small churches throughout the area. At 8 years of age, Bobby was active in Sunday school, he lead devotion with his grandfather, Lewis Hawkins, and did whatever else was needed at the church. At age 9, Bobby began to preach. He preached to the only audience he had, his beloved German Sheppard but he never told anyone for fear that they would not believe him. At tender age of 11, his family moved to Medina, California. Bobby, being gifted in voice, became the lead singer in the choir. Bobby received many awards for his vocal abilities. He graduated from Medina Union High School in June 1970. BG, as he was affectionately knowns, was a star athlete and received many trophies in track and field. Bobby married his childhood sweetheart, Sinya Johnson, they were married for 32 years. To this union, two daughters, Kenya Renice Bonner, and Bobbi Jean Bonner were born. Sadly, Sinya passed away in August of 2001 at the age of 50. Bobby resisted his call to the ministry for years, running here and there trying to get away from the call. In 1987, when his father passed, Bobby accepted his calling to preach. He preached his first sermon in December 1989 from the text Jonah 1:13, from the topic, "You Can Run, But You Can't Hide From God." He was placed under the leadership of Pastor John Rogers of New Home Baptist Church as the Youth Pastor and was being groomed for the Assistant Pastor. Life was hard and he was placed in a deserted place; however, Bobby studied with great men of God, but he would not plant his feet firmly as he kept running from God. Bobby's life journey carried him to Las Vegas, Nevada where he was under the tutelage of the late Reverend Davis of Second Baptist Church, in Las Vegas. While there, he met Edward Palomaries and formed, "The Ministry Gate of Beautiful," which became a radio ministry and for two years, Bobby was heard throughout the world on this radio broadcast. On October 8, 2004, Bobby married Lydia Mae Sanders in Las Vegas and they relocated to Denver, Colorado; there were no children born to this union. Upon arriving to Denver, Bobby served at the New Beginning Cathedral under Apostle Lewis Brown. He then met Dr. C.L. Kelly at a cemetery seven and one half years ago. He began serving at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church Agape, where he acquired his B.A. in Biblical Education and Masters in Theology. Reverend Williams loved life… Although he struggled daily with his respiratory illness, he was determined to smile, and say I'm not ready to die, I still have many sermons to preach and lives to touch. He said when I do die, I want people to know I tried to be a good man, husband and father… "I'm Rev. Bonner's SON!" "I don't want to die like my father gasping for air. My Daddy had one lung, and I don't know how he did it." BG "Loved" fashion, he would stay up in the wee hours of the night with a hot iron and Faultless Spray Starch. BG would shine his shoes and boots to make sure they were flawless. He would always say you earn respect when people know you took the time to be clean, smell good, and some church candy... peppermints. Reverend Williams "Loved" music, some his this favorite artist were John P. Kee, Frank Williams, James Moore, Rance Allen, The Whispers, Luther Vandross, and Teddy Pendergrass. BG would light up a room wherever he went. He had an award winning smile and personality. He truly had a love for the ministry and preaching, and always wanted to blend into the crowd. BG was a handy man, and Certified Nursing Assistant. He acquired his own business named, Robert G. Williams Home Health Care. He worked for Harold Penner Men's Store, The Clothing Connection, K. G. Men's Store, Independent Growth, and others. Upon moving to the Denver area from Las Vegas, Nevada, he had a vision for his own ministry "Patience of Hope," the theme was, "With loving kindness have I drawn thee." Jeremiah 31:3. Reverend Williams would want you to know that if he ever hurt someone, he was sorry. If he helped you he would say, it was his pleasure. Out of all the suits, shoes and neck ties, which he leaves behind, Bobby has now graduated and accepted the White Robe his Heavenly Father promised him, he is now having his feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, and new shoes to walk around heaven all day. Reverend Williams favorite scripture was Jude 1:24-25, "Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen." For I'm now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous judge shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them that love his appearing. Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Sinya Johnson Williams; his parents, Reverend Arthur Bonner Rossman and Alberta Rossman; and his sister, Dorothy Ann Carter. Reverend Bobby Gene Williams departed this life on September 27, 2016, in Denver, Colorado. Bobby leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lydia Mae Sanders; two beautiful daughters, Kenya Renice, Bobbi Jean; one son, his brother, Tommie Bonner; his brother-in-law, Reverend Rodney Carter, a host of grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, numerous friends and many loved ones.
