Reverend Williams

February 22, 1943 — September 30, 2014

Cornell Williams was born in Charleston, Missouri on February 22, 1943 but was raised in Gary, IN. He attended Froebell High School in Gary, Indiana. He worked for a short period of time for the Denver Convention Center as a laborer. Though Cornell was baptized at the early age of 10 at Christian Valley Church in Gary, IN, his dedicated and steadfast walk with the Lord did not begin until he united with House of Hope Christian Ministries under the nurturing tutelage of Pastor Richard L. Lewis In 2005, he met and married his wife, Marjorie or "His Baby" as he affectionately called her. They were married September 10, 2005. They did ministry together with the HOH Food Bank, VORP, The Crossings, Mean Street Ministries and many other ministries throughout the Denver Metro Area. If you saw one, you usually saw the other and their Pastor use to tease them and called them "The Dynamic Duo". To understand Cornell's victory, you would have to know about his wars with prison, drugs and physical illnesses that he overcame by the Grace of God. Cornell was known by some of his old friends as "Bull", by others as "Papa Cornell, and "Corny Corn." He had an infectious smile and was always kissing the ladies (a holy kiss) and you can't forget how he always addressed the men as "soldiers". On September 30, 2014 at the age of 71, God called this soldier home at Denver Hospice. Cornell is preceded in death by his mother Jeanette Williams, his father James H. Williams and his brother James Lee Williams and 6 aunts. Cornell is survived by his loving wife of 9 years, Marjorie Williams; his closest cousins, Pauline Applewhite, of Indiana, Thelma Holland of Oklahoma and Belinda Caruthers of Indiana and other relatives.
